Say your future self invents a time machine, and comes back to offer you a ride in it, say next week. Maybe the two of you want to visit the Renaissance, or maybe you're thinking Victorian.

And maybe you want to stop and see the American Colonies on the way back, or drop in on a Sock Hop. I know what you're thinking - what do I wear? Just as a space traveler's best friend is his towel, a time traveler's best friend is her petticoat. Finished Measurements Download Materials Pattern Notes The Hem: Rainbow Patchwork Skirt. Hello! I hope you enjoy photos of my floor-length patchwork skirt. This took me at least 5 months to make. There are 10 tiers of 4x4 inch square patches. Each successive tier is 1.5 times as long as the next one. The bottom one I ruffled a little bit more than the previous tiers and has a total of 520 squares. The waist is a "drawstring" where the "string" is a 1.5 inch belt that can be pulled tight around ANY size waist up to 50 inches. These photos are NOT me. The order of the colors is as follows: Waist: WhiteTier 1: LilacTier 2: PurpleTier 3: PinkTier 4: OrangeTier 5: YellowTier 6: Light GreenTier 7: Dark GreenTier 8: Light BlueTier 9: Dark BlueTier 10: Blue-Green I cut out ALL of the squares first.

I won't go into details, but I was showing some people this skirt and their first reaction was to ridicule it. I post these photos as a declaration that I worked hard and finished something intricate. Thank you for looking. I still feel the sting of the criticism. Thank you. Tutorial: My New Handbag. I got bored with my old handbag, so here is my new one. It took me about 4 hours - cause I didn't want to stuff it up. I particularly like the zipper in the top rather than just the magnetic closure. The handles look short but they're actually 22 inches long - it's just that they are leaning backwards slightly in the photo. This bag is similar to the jordy except that I have different handles. To add a zipper into the top of your bag, you need to firstly have a zipper. You need to cut gusset pieces. If you have end tabs, sew them to the ends of your zipper, like this: Fold the seam allowance of the neatened edge of your gusset pieces towards the wrong side, like this: Pin the gusset pieces to the zipper: Sew in the zipper.

I just use a zipper foot and I go SLOW. Trim the end tabs down in line with the gusset pieces. Now fold and press the edges over you just sewed. Pin your handles to the inside of the outer bag. Here is a little tutorial to show how I make my quilted fabric wallets. There are quite a few tutorials out there for little card cases or zipper pouch wallets, but I prefer the traditional “place for everything” wallet.

My wallet here has eight credit card slots, two pockets for bills/receipts, and a double-snap closure. Start by gathering up the materials you’ll need.
