The Hobbit | Hobbit Movie News and Rumors | TheOneRing.net™

Greetings all, Quickbeam here. Rumors are flying as far as the Great Eagle’s sight that our newest wizard, Radagast the Brown, will have a more prominent role in the first installment of THE HOBBIT: ‘An Unexpected Journey.’ I am very excited by what Sylvester McCoy may bring to the role. The rumors are strongly suggesting Radagast’s rustic home on the eaves of Mirkwood Forest — Rhosgobel — will be more heavily featured than first suspected. Color me intrigued! http://www.theonering.net/torwp/category/hobbit/

Bladesmithing - Bladesmithing Classes

Our Bladesmithing Program As with all evolution, the growth and now birth of a separate Bladesmithing Program at the New England School of Metalwork has brought yet another endless source of inspiration and energy to the school. Bladesmithing is an integral part of the blacksmiths trade, as such our workshop offerings through the years have snowballed into a following and resurgence of the highest level of our craft. We will be continuing to offer more and interesting workshops in this field as well as related topics such as handles, guards, fittings, castings, engraving, Wootz, Pattern welded steel development and others. We are confident that this program will continue to evolve with your help and support.

The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films

http://themusicofthelordoftheringsfilms.blogspot.com/ On April 27 and 28 the American Symphony Orchestra and Music Director and Conductor Leon Botstein present the world premiere performances of Howard Shore ’s Mythic Gardens at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Arts at Bard College . Commissioned by the Orchestra thanks to a generous gift from Stuart and Linda Nelson, Shore composed the concerto for cellist Sophie Shao , who will premiere the work. Award-winning composer (including the score of The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Shore first worked with Shao when she performed solo cello pieces on his score for the Oscar nominated 2008 documentary The Betrayal (Nerakhoon) . Shore says that “the concerto was conceived for the masterful playing of Sophie Shao and for the depth and beauty of the 1860 Honore Derazey cello in her hands.

Dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings :: Elvish

Interview with David Salo David Salo is the man behind all Elvish translations in the LotR movies. Recently, I sat down with him (he was at one computer and I was at another, but I assume we were both sitting down), and here's what he had to say: Arwen Undomiel: When did you first read The Lord of the Rings ? David Salo: I first tried to read The Lord of the Rings around 1975 or 1976, when I was six or seven years old. I found it rather difficult, and I didn't finish it for quite some time, though I must have finished it by 1977, when The Silmarillion was released.
