At a recent regional technology directors' meeting, a few colleagues from a district set on deploying iPads in their District, asked a few questions that got me thinking about the following question:

Literacy Journal: Only 1 iPad in the Classroom?
The answer is easy: YES, especially if the teacher has access to a Mac desktop or (preferably) laptop and a wifi network in the classroom. It is an even larger YES if the Mac device has the most current operating system. Having a computer to which the iPad can sync is not absolutely necessary, but it is a Best Idea.
Great for handheld presenting to a small group of peers. With the iPad 2, presenting via VGA/HDMI is now possible and with Apple TV this can be done wirelessly.

A growing number of schools across the nation are embracing the as the latest tool to teach Kafka in multimedia, history through “Jeopardy”-like games and math with step-by-step animation of complex problems. As part of a pilot program, Roslyn High School on Long Island handed out 47 iPads on Dec. 20 to the students and teachers in two humanities classes.
When I went from having a few iPads to a class set, and from using the iPads as a center to using them throughout the day- for writing purposes instead of a white board or paper, I knew I needed a good stylus for my kinders. The best, inexpensive, 'chunky' stylus I found cost $10. I wasn't able to test one and was loathe to buy one to find it as easy to ruin as my $15 Pogo brand stylus was.
