http://www.inspirefirst.com/2011/03/21/created-equal-photographer-mark-laita/ In America, the chasm between rich and poor is growing, the clash between conservatives and liberals is strengthening, and even good and evil seem more polarized than ever before. At the heart of this collection of portraits is my desire to remind us that we were all equal, until our environment, circumstances or fate molded and weathered us into whom we have become. Los Angeles- and New York-based photographer Mark Laita completed Created Equal over the course of eight years; his poignant words reflect the striking polarizations found in his photographs. Presented as diptychs, the images explore social, economic and gender difference and similarity within the United States, emulating and updating the portraiture of Edward Curtis, August Sander and Richard Avedon. This volume includes an introduction by noted culture writer and editorial cult figure Ingrid Sischy. Bodybuilder / Amish Farmer, 2006 / 2004

Americana 2 | The DuckDuck Collective Blog

http://duckduckcollective.com/blog/americana-2/ A year ago, when DuckDuck collective first came together, we posted a blog entitled “Americana” . This was the first time that the three of us had ever combined our imagery together into a single project. “Americana 2″ is a look into some of the more personal images and portraits we have taken over the last year as a team. It has been a beautiful ride and we are so glad so many of you have enjoyed it with us. About DuckDuck :

Z.L. Feng grew up in Shanghai and began painting at the young age of seven. After experimenting with all kinds of different mediums, he finally settled on a favorite - watercolor. The artist always revered the medium because of its level of difficulty.
These microscope pictures are taken from the book ‘ Microcosmos’, created by Brandon Brill . This book includes many scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of insects, human body parts and household items.
