Why is Microsoft buying Minecraft? Microsoft is in talks to buy Mojang, the makers of Minecraft, for $2 billion.
While it may not be an obvious paring for the software giant, this acquisition would give Microsoft control of a vast online world, that also happens to have had blockbuster success. Crude it may be, but it generates $350 million of revenue every year; this isn’t the only reason why Microsoft would buy the company – currently Microsoft lags behind Android and Google when bringing top games to the mobile platform.
