Crysis (series) Crysis is a first-person shooter video game series developed by German developer Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. The series revolves around a group of military protagonists with "nanosuits," technologically advanced suits of armor that allow them to gain enhanced physical strength, speed, defense, and cloaking abilities. The protagonists face off against hostile North Korean soldiers, heavily armed mercenaries, and a race of technologically advanced aliens known as the Ceph, who arrived on Earth millions of years ago for unclear reasons, and have recently been awakened.

As of 2013, the series consists of three main installments, a standalone spinoff of the first game with a separate multiplayer title, and a compilation. Characters in Crysis use nanosuits, advanced powered exoskeletons developed by the military that grant them special abilities. The first two games, Crysis and Crysis Warhead, take place in 2020 on the fictional Lingshan Islands, off the Philippines. Crysis. The game is based in a future where a massive ancient space alien-constructed structure has been discovered buried inside a mountain on an island in the fictional Lingshan Islands, near the coast of the East Philippines.[5] The single-player campaign has the player assume the role of U.S.

Army Delta Force soldier Jake Dunn, referred to in-game by his callsign, Nomad. Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nanosuit" which was inspired by a real-life military concept.[6] In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies in various environments on and around the island. Gameplay[edit] As with Crytek's previous game Far Cry, Crysis is a first-person shooter game with many ways to meet objectives.[7] The player controls a Delta Force soldier codenamed Nomad. The player can engage enemies in a variety of ways; using stealth or aggression, bullets or non-lethal tranquilizers, ranged rifles or short-range weaponry, and so on. Crysis 2. Gameplay[edit] Crysis 2 is a first-person shooter.

The player assumes the role of a Force Recon Marine called Alcatraz. Similar to its predecessor, it provides freedom to customize weaponry and abilities. Crytek wanted to avoid making another game set in a true jungle environment (as were Far Cry and Crysis); New York City has been dubbed an "urban jungle". Campaign[edit] The player assumes the control of a Force Recon Marine named "Alcatraz", who gains ownership of the Nanosuit 2.0 from Army Delta Force officer Laurence "Prophet" Barnes, who returns from the original Crysis. The new Nanosuit supports new and upgraded features. PC Gamer magazine published a preview of Crysis 2, showing a park and a destroyed city street with an alien device in the center.

Crytek confirmed to CVG that Crysis 2 would not use EA's online pass system. Multiplayer[edit] Synopsis[edit] Characters and setting[edit] Plot[edit] Development[edit] Marketing[edit] Retail versions[edit] Crysis Warhead. Crysis Warhead is a first-person shooter video game developed by the studio Crytek Budapest and published by Electronic Arts. Crysis Warhead is a stand-alone expansion game and does not require the installation of Crysis to play.

Gameplay[edit] Crysis Warhead updates and refines the gameplay of the original game through a side-plot parallel to that of the original game. The story follows Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes, an ally of Crysis protagonist Nomad, as he faces his own trials and challenges on the other side of the island during the time period of the first game. Crysis Wars[edit] In addition to the single-player campaign, Crytek has also emphasized the multiplayer modes, titled Crysis Wars. Plot[edit] Crysis Warhead takes place during the events of the original Crysis in 2020, when an ancient alien spacecraft is uncovered on the fictional Lingshan Islands, east of the Philippines. Throughout the game, audio clips from four years before the game takes place are heard. Crysis 3. Gameplay[edit] Similar to other games in the series, Crysis 3 is a multi-platform futuristic video game set in New York City with realistic rendering of NYC and manipulation of special abilities.

Players can choose a gameplay style based on direct confrontation, or a more discreet and stealthy approach in order to deal with enemies. Hacking is one of the new features which can be used to hack security codes, weapon boxes, ceph technology, mines, lasers and even sentry turrets (can be used to kill enemies and ceph). Another new feature is the ceph's own weapons can now be used to kill enemies, including cephs. Synopsis[edit] Setting[edit] Players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York in 2047, 24 years after the events of Crysis 2. Plot[edit] 24 years after the events of Crysis 2, Prophet's personality and memories stored in Nanosuit assimilates with Alcatraz's body along with Alcatraz's memories, replacing Alcatraz's consciousness 'like a spare part' in the process.
