As a part of this relationship, we recently surveyed our customers to find out more about their use of FlashPanel, our Google Apps security and management tool. Blogging is a great way to get more traffic to your site, and if you play your cards right, you can also generate tons of leads. Typically, many blogs (including HubSpot's blog) end each post with a call-to-action (CTA) that leads to a landing page. But the question is ... are readers noticing your blog's CTAs? This isn't only a problem with your repeat visitors, either -- since so many blogs implement this tactic, even your new visitors are ignoring your "additional content" or "recommended next steps. In healthcare and life sciences, tens of millions of Americans currently live with medical devices implanted in their bodies. The data generated from these devices combined with data from electronic medical records, test results, medical images, video, patient sensors, and bedside devices creates incredible opportunity for cognitive insights. The FDA is establishing a system to uniquely identify medical devices through their distribution and use. When fully implemented, devices will include a unique device identifier (UDI) in human and machine readable form. And to effectively manage cloud, the ability to automate IT processes and orchestrate business processes is required. Orchestration is the coordination of automated tasks across tools, teams and environments. In a hybrid cloud there are many places to put data, and storing sensitive data in the right place is important. When a company has a data breach for storing data in the wrong country or wrong part of the hybrid cloud, it can cost huge sums of money and damage credibility with customers. About a month ago, several articles appeared in the press covering IBM's willingness to share source code with officials from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. At the time, the preponderance of firms in the U.S. tech industry and some public officials were taking the stance that such sharing could lead only to theft of intellectual property and a disadvantaged U.S. position.
In this view, they were not entirely wrong. The political backdrop for this moment was tarred with U.S. accusations of electronic spying by Chinese hackers — either officially or officially sanctioned — and with a dim view taken by Chinese authorities of U.S. spying against China as revealed by ex-NSA employee Edward Snowden. The shenanigans on both sides were doing nothing to build international trust between the two countries. Controlled audit Plenty of IP. Let’s get clear on cloud. IT has never been straight forward and this is also true of the ‘Cloud’. The industry has spent vast amounts of money promoting cloud-based initiatives, from hosted applications, to everything ‘as a service’ style arrangements – all promise to save costs and time. The problem is, despite all this effort, these myriad options and their bold claims have created widespread uncertainty; many SMEs I talk with are still confused and therefore cautious about the cloud. It doesn’t help that the term ‘cloud’ is a pretty abstract concept and doesn’t provide the clarity required by some looking for a ‘tried and trusted’ solution. This is especially true if you are trying to persuade customers to place their crown jewels into a cloud. Making the cloud easier to understand The key is to make the cloud more transparent and easily understood, employ a clear, no-nonsense approach. Adapting the solution to the business With cloud, there is not a ‘one size that fits all’ solution.
Offering advice is key. IBM to create on-premise version of Blue Box private cloud. IBM is preparing to roll out an on-premise option for its Private Cloud-as-a-Service, Blue Box. The on-premise version of the OpenStack-based cloud will still be offered as a managed service, meaning IBM will take the weight off firms’ IT departments by looking after any in-house deployments customers choose to do. It is expected to offer similar services to those available through IBM’s SoftLayer datacentres, but customers who set it up within their own datacentres will be reassured that their data remains on-premise, with the visibility and management benefits that go along with that.
“We’re now in the process of offering a local version,” confirmed IBM’s VP of sales, Brad Epker, who joined the company from Blue Box when it was acquired in June.
