Pearson VUE uses IBM UrbanCode Deploy to Accelerate Application Deployment. Achieve DevOps with UrbanCode and IBM Cloud Orchestrator. With the introduction of OpenStack Heat, you can now deploy an entire cloud application, defined as a template, in a single shot. Before Heat, OpenStack cloud resources needed to be provisioned individually and combined together to build the application. For example, you would request two compute resources separately, and then you would need a network resource to connect them.

In the OpenStack Dashboard, a Heat template can be provisioned by passing a file, a URL or direct input. But how can you provide governance over the templates that are being used? Meet IBM UrbanCode Deploy with Patterns, where an application developer can design a Heat template using a graphical or text editor, as shown in the following image: UrbanCode Deploy with Patterns then can persist and catalog all the templates that have been defined. Now, how can you expose these templates to a user in a self-service interface? Vagrant. CloudMunch | Full Stack DevOps platform | DevOps automation | Cloud hosting.

Continuous Delivery vs Continuous Deployment. Translations: 한국말 Timothy Fitz’s blog entry on continuous deployment came out over a year before Dave and I published our book on continuous delivery. So why did we choose a different name? Is there actually a difference or are we just being bloody-minded? We decided to call the book Continuous Delivery for a few reasons. First of all, there’s the somewhat pedantic fact that deployment does not imply release.

While continuous deployment implies continuous delivery the converse is not true. This in turn relies on comprehensive automation of the build, test and deployment process, and excellent collaboration between everyone involved in delivery – developers, testers, DBAs, systems administrators, users, and the business. In the world of continuous delivery, developers aren’t done with a feature when they hand some code over to testers, or when the feature is “QA passed”. However it doesn’t always make sense to release every good build to users.
