I am thinking about reframing my goal. But I like challenges; with the time I have discovered I even enjoy challenging myself.Decision taken.No, I won’t reframe my goal. I will find a way to deal with my own leaving my safe dock and I will find ways to encourage my band of students to join me, or better still I will offer to join them. I will do it, because they deserve it, because there’s a lot of love, care and respect in my band. They deserve to be the stars of a movement, however small; together, we can make a difference. One cannot last long without the other. When one is missing, I choose to change: accept a new challenge, engage in new opportunities to collaborate, teach something different, and teach something differently. Lately, I have been flirting with burnout and need a break, but I also need a plan as the academic year approaches after my break, and have decided to adopt a snazzy new mantra: evolve teaching. Accept a new challenge You may have heard of ARC or academic reading circles–it’s been a prominent feature in my life for some time now. Engage in new opportunities to collaborate An interested colleague, perhaps even more invested in blended learning than me, proposed a collaborative research project involving the movement of ARC online–something I honestly hadn’t given much priority to before.

We have access to more information than we can possibly need or want at our fingertips. No longer are we limited to traditional means of engaging, investigating, discovering, and communicating. Many of us find ourselves at an important crossroads. We have a multitude of experience and expertise at our fingertips. Information is travelling at the speed of light. Connecting on a global scale seems like second nature for me. I realize more and more that I am still considered a minority in my learning circles. Connecting requires real courage. I have been guilty myself of making it look a lot easier than it is. The rewards far outweigh the risks in my humble opinion. In the last few days alone I have been able to share in a multitude of experiences I would have otherwise been none the wiser to. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone.
