How Computers Are Creating a Second Economy Without Workers - Bill Davidow - Business. Call it the post-employee economy: The digital revolution is creating billions of dollars of wealth in a second world without people Mikulich Alexander Andreevich / Shutterstock When the disappointing jobs numbers were reported last week (employers added 120,000 jobs in March, about half the number reported in the two previous months), analysts tripped over themselves looking for an explanation.

Of course, jobs numbers are bound to vary, but in my view the long-term trend calls for more jobs to disappear, and the reason is clear as day: the exploding Second Economy. The Second Economy -- a term the economist Brian Arthur uses to describe the computer-intensive portion of the economy -- is, quite simply, the virtual economy. One of its main byproducts is the replacement of low-productivity workers with computers. Unfortunately, the Second Economy will not create many jobs. Humans Won't Survive on Half of Earth by 2300. Average global temperatures, that have been rising for a century already, due to anthropogenic climate change, won’t suddenly stop rising in 2100, say Australian and US scientists in a study just published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Humans Won't Survive on Half of Earth by 2300

Up to half of the planet would become uninhabitable by the 2300s with an average global temperature rise of 21.6 degrees Fahrenheit. [social_buttons] This would make much larger regions into uninhabitable deserts than now. Humans would not be able to adapt or survive in such conditions. “If this happens, our current worries about sea level rise, occasional heat waves and bushfires, biodiversity loss and agricultural difficulties will pale into insignificance beside a major threat – as much as half the currently inhabited globe may simply become too hot for people to live there,” said Professor Tony McMichael, one of the authors.

The scientists give the 21.6 degrees Fahrenheit rise a 50/50 chance. Unheard of mineral discovered in a cave in Spain. Chinese Physicists Smash Distance Record For Teleportation  Teleportation is the extraordinary ability to transfer objects from one location to another without travelling through the intervening space.

Chinese Physicists Smash Distance Record For Teleportation

The idea is not that the physical object is teleported but the information that describes it. This can then be applied to a similar object in a new location which effectively takes on the new identity. And it is by no means science fiction. Physicists have been teleporting photons since 1997 and the technique is now standard in optics laboratories all over the world. The phenomenon that makes this possible is known as quantum entanglement, the deep and mysterious link that occurs when two quantum objects share the same existence and yet are separated in space. Teleportation turns out to be extremely useful. For that reason, teleportation is the enabling technology behind quantum cryptography, a way of sending information with close-to-perfect secrecy. Unfortunately, entangled photons are fragile objects. Black-Scholes: The maths formula linked to the financial crash.
