General Dynamics Awarded $24 Million to Renovate and Modernize USS Harpers Ferry

Navy awarded General Dynamics NASSCO $24.4 million in contract modifications to support an extensive renovation and modernization of the USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), including alterations and repairs, as part of the fiscal year 2011 Extended Docking Phased Maintenance Availability (EDPMA). The company will also inspect and test all of the ship's systems and components. NASSCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

The awards constitute a portion of the work to be accomplished during this availability. The full value of the contract is anticipated to reach approximately $100 million. General Dynamics NASSCO leads the repair and maintenance work conducted aboard all San Diego homeported LSD, LHA and LHD-class amphibious assault ships and FFG 7-class frigates.
