Hello jQuery Mobile » BuildMobile

We will step through the absolute minimum required to author a website with jQM, touch on some of the preliminary pitfalls, and build up a reference project with which you can hold hands as you take your own first steps. jQuery Mobile refers to herself as a “touch-optimised web framework for smartphones and tablets”, and further, as “a unified user interface system across all popular mobile device platforms, build on the rock-solid jQuery and jQuery UI foundation”. Essentially, then, author your document using this framework and practically guarantee a good outcome on current mobile devices. Set Up Wherein we set up a local development environment for our first experiments. I chose to house all of these files in a /jqm/ folder, within the root directory of my project. It was deemed a little black-hat but I'm not afraid of such things, so I set about writing a quick script to sniff a user's history. Why I read a rumour on the Internet recently that Dell were using such a script to work out whether you've visited competitor websites; allowing them to put their best offers under your nose in an aim to get your business. So under the premise that you've got a website with known competitors, how do you know if your visitor has visited them? What it does You enter the URL's of your competitor's websites into a Javascript array and set a colour for visited links in the CSS. All I've done is create a really basic page that just has a container and a div with the ID of 'sniffer'.

Sniffer is empty for now and I've just placed some instructions on the page in case you've not visited any of my test URLs. Javascript Done! Skills for Front-End Developers. As a front-end developer, I’m constantly trying to learn new skills and technologies and adding to what I already know.

Skills for Front-End Developers

Front-end developer job postings, however, vary from posting to posting so the list of different languages, libraries, and technologies that could theoretically fall under the category of front-end developer skills is quite large. Here’s a list (that I’ll continue to update) containing a wide variety of skills and technologies that I think all front-end developers should be working on learning, at least to some extent. I certainly don’t know all of these, nor do I expect anyone else to. The list is not necessarily in any particular order, but I tried to keep the more rudimentary stuff at or near the top. Also, many of the items overlap others, so there’s a lot of cross-over within the list.
