Cloze Sentence Worksheets. Resource Room Word List Samples: Introducing silent e. Home > Reading and Spelling Lessons & Word Lists> Word Lists Index > Introducing "Silent E" Closed syllables + e=silent e syllable This is a good page for introducing the silent e syllable.
These words change from short to long vowel words; they're all real words. This is a page that should be practiced and drilled to mastery and automaticity. This language pattern shows up many, may times. Just as you demonstrated that adding a letter changed the sound of a word with closed syllables, you can demonstrate that here -- in this case, of course, the awesomely powerful "e" reaches over the consonant to empower the vowel to say its name. You can tell the student that e is usually silent at the end of a word. "Quit" and "quite" and "quiet" are words that are often confused -- give them a *lot* of practice. Some students will be able to apply what they've learned about /g/ to the rag -- rage and hug - huge transitions; other students will need extra practice integrating the concepts.
English news and easy articles for students of English. Simple ways to differentiate materials for mixed level classes. I love this picture..they’re all eggs, but just look at the variety. And it’s the same in any class. Differentiation can be defined as: “….identifying and addressing the different needs, interests and abilities of all learners to give them the best possible chance of achieving their learning goals.” (Standards Unit, Improving differentiation in business education, DfES 2004) Differentiation is a key issue in ESOL, or teaching English to students who now live in an English speaking country.
In ELT, differentiation is more often referred to as ‘teaching mixed ability’ or ‘mixed levels’. That said, I don’t believe in providing different worksheets for all the students and getting them to work on these individually or even in pairs. Let’s look at some ways in which we can differentiate without having to spend hours on preparation. 1 Differentiation by outcome Some people use differentiated outcomes on their lesson plans. 2.

And, since most people actually have lives, they don’t necessarily want to be spending hours online separating the wheat from the chaff. Taking all that into consideration, here are my recommendations for the Best Three Sites On The Web For ESL/EFL/ELL/ELT Teachers. These three sites provide large quantities of high quality resources for teachers and students, and they’re free. They’re my “go to” sites that I check check daily, and typically more often, to see what’s new.
The Teaching English – British Council Facebook page. EFL Classroom 2.0. Ressources Pour Le College En Anglais is another site I’ve mentioned often.
