Although this article specifically addresses business people, if you are a reader of any kind, you must look into GoodReads . It’s the Facebook of books (I would have called it Bookbook). It’s an ongoing conversation about the written word. If you are an avid reader and want to find out what others are thinking about your favorite books, GoodReads is the place to go. The site has a vast amount of features.
I’m somewhat of an amateur history buff. The stories of how people overcome adversity in trying times and how the world was shaped through those challenges never ceases to astonish me. When we think about history, though, we often think about political history, military history, or cultural history. Rarely does business history come to our minds.
Having never taken a business class in college I find that I read and listen to a lot of business books to round out my education. The books usually aren't "How to Manage Your Cash Flow" but rather get me to rethink the way I run my business , which--despite no business classes or diploma--continues to be in business 13 plus years after I started it. In that time, here are 13 of the books that had the biggest impact on how I run my business (in no particular order): Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel Pink: If you supervise anyone in your business, this book is a must read. It shows that what science knows about motivation, business isn't putting into practice.
Guy Kawasaki, the author of new business book Enchantment As the year winds down, one thing isn't growing shorter -- my nightstand pile of noteworthy business books. I receive mountains of them, and most become instant library donations.
Jeff Williams - Author Sometime in the last quarter of last year I had the pleasure of running across the Biz Starters website and ‘ The Ultimate Boomer Business Start-Up Guide ’ by Jeff Williams. I asked Jeff if I could promote his product on my website and he was kind enough to give me a review copy of his start-up guide. So that he wouldn’t have to mail me the physical product, I read a PDF copy on my computer.
