The Story: Turgut Alp was a Gazi (warrior/champion) of the early Ottoman Empire. A lifelong friend and supporter of Ertugrul Gazi, he is one the most well-known warriors in Turkish history. He lived a very long life and died at the old age of 125! After the death of Ertugrul Gazi his son, Osman Gazi became the ruler of the Kayi tribe and Turgut Alp served and became a close friend and advisor to him and after Osman’s death, he continued to serve the Ottoman Empire as an advisor and supporter of Osman’s successor, Orhan Gazi.

It is the most sacred site in Islam and is the qibla (direction of prayer) for Muslims around the world when performing salah (prayer). The Kaaba has been rebuilt several times throughout history, most famously by Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail (Ishmael), when he returned to the valley of Mecca several years after leaving his wife Hajar (Hagar) and Ismail there upon Allah's command.
