This just in: I was toying with the new 1.6 update and found a way to enable the Sky Dimension world generation code to the surface world as a test: needs Minecraft Beta 1.6.6 singleplayer wr.class . Install as usual (add to minecraft.jar, delete META_INF/MOJANG_C.*). Have fun.
