The highlight for me was showing my original animation artwork that I did for the flip book and seeing the reaction of everybody. It gave me such a pleasure to see that everybody still love to see drawings on paper come to life when you flip it. Almost every student of animation and many professionals still love the art form of hand drawn animation and many still want to do it. It gave me a boost to actually finish my hand drawn short film and that's my plan for the coming year. I will post snippets of it soon. Storyman Bill Peet drew these sketches of The Colonel, an Old English sheepdog, from the 1961 movie 101 Dalmatians.
Most of the animation for this character was done by John Lounsbery, who must have been relieved to have gotten this assignment. After animating mostly serious and dramatic scenes for the previous film epic Sleeping Beauty, he again was given the opportunity to handle comic animation. When you look at Lounsbery's career, it's his eccentric characters who are the most memorable. The alligators in Dance of the Hours, some of the Mice in Cinderella, the crocodile in Peter Pan and Tony & Joe in Lady and the Tramp are just a few highlights.

Color Photography from Russia in the Early 1900′s. Posted Oct 21, 2009 Share This Gallery inShare58 The photographs of Russian chemist and photographer, Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii, show Russia on the eve of World War I and the coming of the revolution.
From 1909-1912 and again in 1915, Prokudin-Gorskii travelled across the Russian Empire, documenting life, landscapes and the work of Russain people. His images were to be a photographic survey of the time. He travelled in a special train car transformed into a dark room to process his special process of creating color images, a technology that was in its infancy in the early 1900′s. - STREET ART UTOPIA.
