Security Screen. Security Screen. The Scourge of Wine Bloggers. I've been thinking about this for a while now, my frustration growing at times, receding at other times. In the hopes of creating dialogue, I'm posting my feelings openly and honestly for everyone (all nine of you) to read. Should wine bloggers be nice? Yes, by all means we collectively should be nice to people, and of course, about the wines we review. However, should we be nice at the expense of our integrity as bloggers and responsibility to accurately report/blog about the wines we're drinking?

The answer to that is a resounding NO. There's a line to be drawn between being polite, gracious, and nice, and being a jerk, insulting, and rude. Staying within the accepted societal norms of behavior is easy, unless you're the WAWineMan guy, but that's a "special" case. With that out of the way... This all stems from me being sent a lot of inexpensive, budget-oriented wine to sample. How do I convey that fact to my readers without coming across as a snob?

Add to that the hassles of airport security, and you can see the major pain that all this “convenience” engenders.

Now, I think I found a solution. After seeing several online ads, I sprung $100 for the ZAGGfolio for The new iPad . Setting it up took about 10 minutes, and I have been completely attached ever since. The iPad is fully functional — even the camera, when inserted into the hard plastic case. And, unlike some other iPad keyboards that I have seen, this keyboard feels and functions much like any other computer keyboard.

Now that I have been using the Zaggfolio for about a month, I am firmly endorsing it. I also was impressed when I stumbled upon a Zagg retail store in Salt Lake City on Saturday, where I saw the company’s full line of products, including cases, protective covers and other iPhone and iPad accessories and a series of earbuds. {*style:<i> ShareThis. FedEx is launching an overnight temperature controlled wine shipping solution for wineries in Northern California serving five hubs covering 70 percent of the country with delivery by 10:30 the next morning. The new service, which is expected to be quite popular with wineries, launches April 1 with a northern route and May 1 with a southern route. Temperature-controlled trucks that maintain a steady 55 degrees will be used to ship to FedEx hubs. From the hubs, the wine will then go out for delivery via regular trucks early the following morning. FedEx started testing the service during August and September with a program involving ten shipping customers.

Customers put sensors in shipping boxes during the test with favorable results. “We’ve heard from several customers their interest and desire to get a summer solution,” district sales manager Caroline Viger-Uu said. Pricing is still being fine tuned but should be available in a couple weeks. Australian winemaker debuts new red wine at Walgreens Drugstores - Drinks Business Review. By Rivka Friedman There are few things as wonderful as Israeli breakfast. Unlike the cheerios-and-milk American routine (or, even worse, the ubiquitous but tasteless nutrition bar), Israeli breakfasts are adventures in flavor, texture, and spice. Like the people themselves, Israelis’ breakfast foods are bold, with assertively tangy flavors, and comprise the freshest ingredients.

Think stacks of fresh pita to be dunked in hummus, labane (a thick yogurt-based cheese), fruity olive oil, and za’atar--the essential Israeli herb. Here are recipes for three Israeli breakfast spreads: a nutty hummus, homemade labane, and Muhamarra -- a Syrian red pepper and walnut spread with a kiss of pomegranate syrup. You shouldn’t, and can’t, compete with people who have been making hummus all their lives. A hummus made right, will not make you feel heavy or bloated after you eat it. To solve the gas problem, BTW, you should soak the chickpeas in clean water for 10-15 hours, switch them at list once, and take off the foam that appears over the boiling water during the cooking. Also, washing the chickpeas well between every two steps of the making, will help you leave out the aftertastes. There are lots of different hummus recipes. On Saturday night, for the first time in my life, I was kicked out of a restaurant — Restaurant Marc Forgione in TriBeCa. It’s a good restaurant, with a great cocktail and a clever bread operation. But that’s as far as I got into the meal. About ten minutes after my party of four sat down, we heard yelling — loud, sustained, top-of-lungs yelling — coming from the kitchen. Mr. No one said a thing though. A few minutes later, the chef was at it again. I don’t remember exactly what I said, though I did not raise my voice to the point beyond where people in the kitchen could hear it. Maybe 20 seconds after I had returned to my seat, he approached the table. “I think it’s time for you to go,” he said. “Are you kicking me out?”

“Yes,” he replied. I’m not naive about restaurants. In this particular instance, however, something didn’t feel right. When I called him on Monday to tell him I was writing this post about the evening, Mr. That wasn’t what got us kicked out though, according to Mr. Comfort Inn & Suites Near Universal Studios, Los Angeles, USA: B. Now I admit, this particular photo is a pretty extreme case, but even in the best of times, a big fat burger has the problem of overcooking around the outside before the center gets a chance to finish (for a great example of this, try the burgers at the Corner Bistro). That said, there are still a few choices to make when it comes to cooking a burger sous-vide. That's My Bag, Baby!

Marin changes policy to now allow dogs to sit with owners at res. Sheppy the German shepherd sits with caretaker Simone at the outdoor dining area at Fish in Sausalito. (IJ photo/Frankie Frost) They don't make reservations, aren't much for dinner conversation and rarely (if ever) tip. Yet dogs are now welcome in Marin County's outdoor dining areas, thanks to a change of heart by the county Department of Environmental Health. "It's allowed - but only when the dining area has access from the outside," said David Smail, supervising registered environmental health specialist with the department. "We're not allowing animals with their owner to go through the food facility. The health and safety code prohibits them from coming inside, unless they are guide animals, signal animals or security animals.

" Smail said his department changed a long-standing policy after receiving complaints from local restaurateurs. "Our take had been that if the seating was under control of the food facility, then the seating was part of that food facility," Smail said. Restaurant. " Editorial: County decides dogs welcome at local restaurants - Ma. Posted: 06/21/2010 12:09:47 AM PDT EVERY ONCE in a while, common sense prevails.

That's what happened when environmental health officials decided to lift the county's longtime ban on dogs at outdoor tables at Marin restaurants. For years, the county has been handing out $150 tickets to restaurants that have allowed diners' dogs in outdoor dining areas. County officials said they were enforcing public health and safety rules. But after numerous complaints from restaurateurs who have had to stomach $150 fines, county officials took another look at their rules, compared them with those in other counties, and made the change. Many local restaurants see an advantage to being dog-friendly and the change enhances that status. At Fish, a popular Sausalito restaurant, customers have brought their dogs and sat outside.

We applaud Marin County's willingness to change this rule. Of course, not everyone will be thrilled about dining with someone else's dog nearby.
