'There just won't be any room', he said, 'for people who won't go along. We can't have such people cluttering up the place so such people would be taken to special places', and here I don't remember the exact words, but the inference I drew was that at these special places where they were taken, then they would not live very long.
He may have said something like, 'disposed of humanely', but I don't remember very precisely ... just the impression the system was not going to support them when they would not go along with the system. That would leave death as the only alternative.
Somewhere in this vein he said there would not be any martyrs. When I first heard this I thought it meant the people would not be killed, but as the presentation developed what he meant was they would not be killed in such a way or disposed of in such a way that they could serve as inspiration to other people the way martyrs do.
Rather he said something like this. 'People will just disappear'.
Social instability lies ahead, researcher says. Cliodynamics is a new "transdisciplinary discipline" that treats history as just another science.
Ten years ago I started applying its tools to the society I live in: the United States. What I discovered alarmed me. My research showed that about 40 seemingly disparate (but, according to cliodynamics, related) social indicators experienced turning points during the 1970s. Historically, such developments have served as leading indicators of political turmoil. My model indicated that social instability and political violence would peak in the 2020s (see Political Instability May be a Contributor in the Coming Decade). The presidential election which we have experienced, unfortunately, confirms this forecast.
My model tracks a number of factors. The victory of Donald Trump changes nothing in this equation. Another visible sign of increasing intra-elite competition and political polarization is the fragmentation of political parties. But this is a science-based forecast, not a "prophecy". Sweden: Is Islam Compatible with Democracy? In Sweden's last census in which citizens were asked about their religious beliefs, in 1930, fifteen people said that they were Muslims.
Since 1975, when Sweden started its transformation from a homogenous, Swedish country into a multicultural and multi-religious one, the number of Muslims has exploded. Now, approximately one million Muslims live here -- Sunni, Shia and Ahmadiyya from all the corners of the world -- and Mosques are built and planned all over the country. No one, however, seems to have asked the crucial question upon which Sweden's future depends: Is Islam compatible with democracy? The Swedish establishment has not grasped that Islam is more than a private religion, and therefore it dismisses all questions about Islam with the argument that Sweden has freedom of religion. Two facts point to Islam not being compatible with democracy. Second, Muslims in Europe vote collectively. The people suffering most cruelly in the "New Sweden" are the elderly. It's sad to say with such finality, but a universal fact of existence is that most of the people you meet in this life are fundamentally and functionally ignorant.
Not necessarily stupid, but certainly ignorant. Ignorance comes not from a lack of intelligence, but from a denial of knowledge and truth. That is to say, ignorance takes hold when people decide to act as though they know and understand a thing, even if they do not. Ignorance prevails when a society or nation chooses to value the appearance of expertise, to value the theater of overconfidence, and to cheer for the bluster of morons rather than admit that they have unanswered questions on subjects they do not yet grasp. For nothing is worse for the self absorbed than to acknowledge that they do not know. Entire nations have fallen throughout history because of this terrible weakness... By extension, such ignorance is not just an inherent disease but also an easily exploitable disease.
