Get flash to fully experience Pearltrees
By Ryan Van Etten on 04/22/2012 During SXSW 2012 Billy Corgan shared some rockable insights for indie musicians. “At the end of the day you always have to focus on the fact of quality first and everything else comes second” he says in the video below. (4:00) Corgan talked at SXSW about how artists need to create experiences that translate to [...] By Ryan Van Etten on 04/10/2012 It’s pretty fair to say that in a moshpit SXSW attendees would trample UMF attendees. The SXSW-ers, being in Austin, have Texas power, and the UMF-ers, in Miami, might just be too numb to feel it.

Oakland metal band High On Fire just released its sixth album, De Vermis Mysteriis , via eOne Music . “Kings Of Days” was recorded with producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, MA, and the sludgy track showcases the band’s signature brawny stoner-metal style, propelled by singer/guitarist Matt Pike’s guttural vocals and searing riffs. The track is seven minutes long, which is more than enough time to convince you that it’s awesome. We’re proud to finally spill the beans on THE GOLDMINE , our new premium digital subscription service, powered by drip.fm. Lorn will release Ask The Dust , his sophomore album and debut for Ninja Tune, on 18 June (EU) / 26 June (NA) - grab a free download of "Ghosst" now here . Listening back to his first album, Lorn says it now seems “cold and strict.” Ask The Dust , on the other hand, is “haunted, oily, smeared,” and with this description he captures something of the intensely felt, visceral aliveness of the music. If Lorn began his musical career as a poet of alienation, then Ask The Dust (named after the 1939 proto-Beat classic novel of the same name by John Fante) sees his music develop a more human energy. In particular, the use of his own singing voice (a process which began on the last track of Nothing Else , “What’s The Use”), which has added a new dimension to his often crunching and brutal but never less than beautiful electronic music. Ask The Dust is released 18 June (EU) / 26 June (NA) on Limited Edition Reel-to-Reel Tape (inc.

His first album ''24 hours", released in 2004, and some well put together Eps brought Oxia at the top of the charts. But recently, we had the impression that the artist sank into oblivion. Tongues are wagging but Oxia surprises us with the release of his second album "Tides Of Mind", full of beautiful colors.

Oxia // Almost eight years after the release of “ 24 Heures ” (released by Goodlife), Oxia , a pioneer of the French electronic scene, is back in 2012 at last with a new LP. Perfectionist par excellence, Olivier Raymond is well known for his rare but highly appreciated productions. His EPS, as well as his remixes, released at the end of the noughties on Kompakt, Tsuba or 8bit have made him one of the key producers of the Beatport generation, reaching its climax with the international commercial success of “Domino” in 2006 or “Whole…Magnifier
Sidi Touré is just the ambassador Mali needs right now. The Malian singer/guitarist released his second album just as the African nation erupted in conflict after a coup d'etat and a secessionist uprising in the strife-plagued north. A quietly passionate, contemplative collection of folk blues, Koïma seems to speak to the chaos around it from Touré's unique perspective on Malian politics: Currently based in Mali's capital city Bamako, Touré is cut off from his hometown Gao (claimed by the rebels) and his family. Koïma also speaks to Touré's global and local experiences via the Songhaï folk style, which varies from rollicking wedding songs to ritual music, but he cuts it with transatlantic blues.Gotta Dance Dirty | Electronic Music Blog
Chris Baio , bassist of Vampire Weekend , has just released his debut solo EP, Sunburn , this week on the mighty Greco-Roman imprint, and the 3-track release is blissful techy, tropical electronica in all its glory. Baio spent 2011 in a small studio in Brooklyn, taking influence from the urban culture around him which was projected into each of the three originals on Sunburn . He even teamed up with Chilean legend Matias Aguayo on ‘Tanto,’ where island-inspired percussion takes center stage and transports the listener to a mental paradise. √+ for this debut solo project.
