< > international internet preservation consortium - welcome

http://netpreserve.org/about/index.php In July 2003 the national libraries of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, The British Library (UK), The Library of Congress (USA) and the Internet Archive (USA) acknowledged the importance of international collaboration for preserving Internet content for future generations.
Cet article est la traduction d’un extrait de l’article « Web Archiving at the Library of Congress » par Abbie Grotke , qui dirige l’équipe d’archivage web au Bureau des initiatives stratégiques, au sein de la Bibliothèque du Congrès. http://www.webarchivists.org/fr/2011/12/demarrer-un-projet-darchivage-web-par-ou-commencer-les-conseils-dabbie-grotke-library-of-congress/

It Takes a Village…to Archive the Internet « The Signal: Digital Preservation

The following is a guest post by Abbie Grotke , Web Archiving Team Lead at the Library of Congress. In an earlier post I talked about the types of Web content that the Library of Congress archives. Despite the tremendous amount we’ve preserved, we know we can’t do it alone. http://blogs.loc.gov/digitalpreservation/2011/07/it-takes-a-village%e2%80%a6to-archive-the-internet/

Transferring “Libraries of Congress” of Data « The Signal: Digital Preservation

The following is a guest post by Nicholas Taylor , Information Technology Specialist for the Web Archiving Team. If science reporters, IT industry pundits and digital storage and network infrastructure purveyors are to be believed , devices are being lab-tested even now that can store all of the data in the Library of Congress or transmit it over a network in mere moments. To this list of improbable claims, I’d like to add another: by the most conservative estimates, I transfer more than a Library of Congress’ worth of data to the Library of Congress every month.

The following is a guest post by Erin Engle, Digital Archivist, NDIIPP. When my family and friends ask what I do at the Library of Congress, I invariably get questioning looks when I use the phrase “digital preservation.” The looks turn even more quizzical when I talk about my work managing a project focusing on the preservation of geospatial information .
