In the first of a wave of demonstrations expected to take place in the runup to the Olympics, organisers say Saturday's alternative street parties will take "a radical new direction", targeting high-profile individuals activists claim are responsible for the government's austerity drive. The event is being organised by UK Uncut, which has staged scores of protests over the past two years, and hundreds of people are expected to take part in 11 separate demonstrations across the UK.
