26 Sep, 2007 | Written by Fred | under Social Bookmarking Who is the winner of the social bookmarking battle? Read/WriteWeb has a great article with a lot of empirical evidence to show who is winning. Unfortunately, the evidence for StumbleUpon is no where to be found. Despite the lack of evidence for StumbleUpon, it is clear that Del.icio.us and StumbleUpon are the clear winners with Ma.gnolia being a distant third. http://newestonthenet.com/delicious-vs-stumbleupon/

Del.icio.us vs. StumbleUpon - Newest on the Net

http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2064752/Del.icio.us-and-StumbleUpon-A-Social-Media-Primer These days, it seems that social media marketing is on the minds of every search engine marketer. With the importance of links in the algorithms of all the major search engines, along with the benefits of putting your pages in front of a broad, targeted audience, getting your articles popular on major social media sites like del.icio.us and StumbleUpon is an important part of any search marketing strategy. I recently discussed the importance of smaller, vertically targeted micro communities in social media marketing. Today, I'll focus on social bookmarking service del.icio.us and social discovery service StumbleUpon, including the nature of the two sites, how they differ, and how they can fit into your social media marketing strategy. del.icio.us

Tags are scraped gently from a quiet corner of del.icio.us and cached for a day, so if you're not seeing immediate changes, or if it's all burnt to the ground one morning, that's why.

Digg vs. Reddit vs. StumbleUpon vs. del.icio.us – Inspiration Bit

http://www.inspirationbit.com/digg-reddit-stumbleupon-delicious/ With so many social networking sites on the Web I’m sure everyone is curious about which one is a better promotional tool for blogs. So far I’ve experienced only the effects of the big four : Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon and del.icio.us. I thought it would be beneficial to share my observations with others. It all started with a Group Writing Project – 37 Sources of Inspiration that was dugg to Digg’s front page on May 27, which resulted in over 17,000 visits in one day. The next big wave of traffic (over 18,000 visits) came on July 7th, when my two-months old post 16 Best-Loved Font Bits In Web Design that was featured on Blogging Pro hit Reddit’s home page.
The Ruby script below analyzes your del.icio.us links to generate a list of your favourite interests. It lists the tags that are most frequently used in your links. Because you may not have been diligent about descriptively tagging your links, this script uses the tags from *all* users, for *your* links. The result is a list of tags, sorted by the number of your links that have been associated with each tag. http://jonaquino.blogspot.com/2005/03/introspicious-using-delicious-to.html

“Post comments to suggest any tools I missed here”…OK, here goes. As part of a tutorial on how to build side-bars for IE without having to learn C++ (instead using XForms), I produced a panel that allows you to add the current browser page to del.icio.us–with tags–in one click. The XForm side-bar picks up the title of the page you are looking at in the main frame, as well as any keywords in the META tags, which will then be used as tag suggestions. The description of the link is automatically set to the description from the META tags (if there is one), or alternatively you can hightlight some text in the main document and that will be used instead. There’s also an input box that uses Google Suggest if you want to try and standardise on tags.

Der Zugriff auf den Dienst erfolgt standardmäßig über einen Webbrowser ; für manche Dienste gibt es auch spezielle Browser-Erweiterungen , um die Bedienung zu erleichtern.
