Stuffed Baguette

Stuffed Baguette A hollowed baguette obviously makes a perfect shell for any filling you are in the mood for. And once stuffed and properly chilled, it becomes a neat appetizer. This particular one is filled with all my favorite things: goat cheese/cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes, olives, spicy salami, crunchy bell pepper, and fresh herbs. Makes one 12-inch long baguette; about 24 slices Ingredients: http://www.bakingobsession.com/2009/10/04/stuffed-baguette/

Thin Crust Pizza

Successfully making thin crust pizza at home is not an easy task. When I have tried before I end up with a crust that over cooked and cracker like, or one that is limp and under cooked. That is why I was so happy to see that Cook’s Illustrated had done some testing and made some discoveries. Their big finding was that it is better to use all-purpose flour than bread flour or other high protein flours. http://www.cookography.com/2007/thin-crust-pizza

Bacon Garlic Bread Sticks The weather has turned down right nasty again and I can’t help but want to get in the kitchen and cook. I started by making a batch of pizza dough , not really with a plan, but leaning towards bread sticks. I split the dough in half and made bread sticks with half and doughnuts with the other. I made 12 bread sticks and 15 doughnuts, TOO MANY DOUGHNUTS! The bread sticks were the perfect snack/lunch on a snowy day, especially with a little bacon thrown in the mix.

Living in Bermuda, I have cooked some things I would never make if I was living in the US. Homemade bagels are definitely one of them. Why would I bother making bagels if I lived in a city that had great bagels on every corner? Here in Bermuda there aren't many bagel options and there is only one place that doesn't use frozen ones.
