Degree-Seeking Students Scholarships. The following John Cabot University scholarships and grants are available to degree-seeking students and apply to the regular academic year (fall and spring semesters) and are pro-rated according to registered credits for summer sessions unless otherwise noted.

Degree-Seeking Students Scholarships

Entering First Year and Transfer Students Merit-based Awards First year and transfer applicants are considered for merit awards on an ongoing basis between February 15th and April 1st for Fall and by October 15th for the Spring semester. Students accepted after March 1st (for Fall) and October 15th (for Spring) are notified on a continuing basis taking into consideration that as the semester approaches, fewer scholarship funds will be available.

Students may only receive one merit-based scholarship. Presidential Scholarship JCU Presidential Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement at the time of entry to the University; a separate application is not required. As an overseas American liberal arts university, John Cabot has as its mission the goal of creating a community of both degree and visiting students. To recognize the important role visiting students have in promoting JCU's mission, a limited number scholarships are available for visiting students who qualify. We are looking for students who want a diverse international environment, challenging dynamic classes, and who want to take full advantage of the opportunities that come with studying and living in Rome. John Cabot University is authorized by the US Department of Education to participate in the Title IV Program. All citizens and permanent residents of the United States who are enrolled as degree-seeking students at John Cabot University may be eligible to participate in the Stafford Loan Program. Parents may borrow through the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) loan program and independent students may borrow through the Stafford Loan Programs. Current US government legislation prohibits US citizens enrolled in colleges or universities outside the United States from receiving Pell Grants, SEOG, Perkins Loans, or Federal Work Study funds, even though they may be eligible for such assistance.

Online Registration for Study Abroad students: Summer I 2014: begins at midnight on Thursday, April 17, 2014 (Central European Time) Summer II 2014: begins at midnight on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 (Central European Time) Fall 2014: begins at midnight on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 (Central European Time ) Health Insurance - Visiting Students. The Italian authorities will accept private U.S. or other non-Italian medical insurance only if the Insurance company issues a letter summarizing the conditions of the policy, stating that there are no restrictions on the validity of the policy, and that it is valid in Italy.

Health Insurance - Visiting Students

If you do not have a valid, international health insurance policy that provides coverage during your stay in Italy you may purchase an Italian health insurance policy through Eduservices*. This Italian health insurance provides emergency health care coverage for students in a number of local hospitals. Depending on the number of months requested, the policy will cost anywhere from €55 to €192 (or approximately $70 - $250). Payments may be made online (see Student Services Pre-Orientation email) with a credit card or may be paid in cash** to the Eduservices representative during Orientation week.

Study Abroad in Rome, Italy. Non-EU Citizens Non-EU citizens have various steps to complete in order to be able to study and reside in Italy from a legal standpoint. Complying with Italian laws is essential to study at John Cabot. The steps include: - requesting a Study Visa - registering for the Permit to Stay with Eduservices*- attending the mandatory Permit to Stay sessions (there are two)- picking up the Permit to Stay Receipt *Student Services will email you the Eduservices registration link for Permit to Stay before Orientation. Application Dates. All candidates are responsible for ensuring that the completed application and all supporting materials reach the University in time for the Admissions Committee to review the application and make a final decision.

All new students are strongly encouraged to submit their Admission application by the priority application date in order to complete the necessary steps to enrolling at John Cabot University and obtain a study visa, if necessary, in a timely manner. Students living in the United States or Canada have the option of sending their completed application and materials to either the U.S. Degree Seeking & Transfer Students. All non-EU students must comply with Italian immigration laws in order to study at JCU. We insist that you provide proof that you may legally study in Italy not only because the law requires us to do so, but also because it is the only way we can assure that your studies will not be jeopardized by problems with the Italian immigration authorities.
