The then PR diva is having a tense conversation with Manoj Modi, the right-hand man of India’s most powerful businessman, Mukesh Ambani. The top management of conglomerate Reliance Industries—a client of Radia’s PR firm—is upset, very upset. Business magazine Forbes India (published by the then Raghav Bahl-promoted Network 18) had committed, according to the Ambanis, a grave transgression. An irreverent column on the rich and famous, which went by the moniker Insnider, had taken a light-hearted swipe at the children of the RIL chairman.

Radia is trying to secure an apology from the Forbes editors. With The .Net Foundation, Microsoft Finally Bets Big On Open Source

This week, the software giant finally made the big moves skeptics of its commitment to open source have been looking for. At a keynote presentation at the Build developers conference in San Francisco Thursday, Microsoft executive Scott Guthrie announced the creation of the .Net Foundation, an organization that will take over stewardship of the important software framework. Microsoft created .Net years ago for two reasons: to help developers write software for multiple versions of Windows, and to answer the rise of the Java programming language. But its Windows-centric framework hobbled its adoption. The move is notable because former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer once called open source a “cancer.” .Net also lives close to the heart of Windows, which Microsoft has kept as its own proprietary software.

Breaking: Netflix and Comcast appear to have reached a peering agreement

Comcast and Netflix appear to have resolved their differences over network peering, which has frustrated many Netflix users over the last few months with slow, intermittent service as a result of the dispute over the business of interconnecting networks. Bryan Berg, a co-founder of App.net, posted a traceroute on Github Friday showing traffic data between Netflix and Comcast that appears to show the two companies have come to some sort of direct interconnection agreement (hat tip to Dan Gillmor who noticed the Berg post.).

As usual, the story on the Netflix Tech Blog is that while the Amazon service in question (S3) is amazing, it needs to be just a scooch more amazing to meet Netflix’ needs.

In his blog post, Netflix senior software engineer Daniel Weeks cited S3′s “99.999999999% durability, 99.99% availability, effectively infinite storage, versioning (data recovery), and ubiquitous access” as huge benefits.
