Beginner Crochet Hat pattern by Michon Chandler. This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download This simple hat is a great first project to get acquainted with a couple of different crochet stitches. It starts with single crochet and moves through half-double crochet and double crochet then on to a v-stitch, crocheting through the back loop only and finishes off with a post stitch. The bow is designed to practice decreasing as well as seaming. With the exception of the v-stitch, I have not gone into how to make any of the stitches. For an explanation of the stitches please refer to The Nation NeedleArts Association: How to Crochet Book, www.craftyarncouncil.com, or New Stitch a Day on youtube. This hat is also meant to work without too much emphasis on gauge. Please do not sell my pattern but feel free to sell any projects made with my pattern and also feel free to use my pattern to teach someone else how to crochet!

If you notice any mistakes please let me know and I will fix them immediately. Coffee Cosy & Trivet pattern by Ilona J Delargy. This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download Tea pots come in different sizes, but there is always a handle and always a spout. With coffee pots (cafetieres) the handles tend to be of varying heights, so sizing a cosy almost impossible. I have made several for myself, but when I get a new pot (I seem to be clumsy as I’ve broken a few), my old cosy doesn’t fit as the handle on the new pot are not in the same place.

So here is a pattern that: Is forgiving so you can adjust this for any size coffee pot Is thick enough to actually keep the coffee HOT. You will need: I used 2 strands of DK yarn (I used Stylecraft special 100% acrylic) or you could use 1 strand of chunky yarn, and 3 hook sizes – 5.5, 4.5 and 3.5mm. Expertise Intermediate - this is not a beginners pattern as you will need to be able to do FP and BP trebles, work tightly, do foundation doubles and foundation trebles, sew on buttons and make loops to secure them, and you will also need to be able to make a magic loop.

Ripple Ridge Afghan pattern by Ronni Franklin. This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download This pattern is adapted from an afghan my mom made for my dad several years ago before she passed.

Pattern repeat (one point valley to valley) is 22 stitches, and measures approximately 3.75 inches, depending on your tension. You may make this in any length and width desired, from baby/crib size to 6-8 feet long (as my mother did for my dad, who is 6’4” tall!). For his afghan, she purchased a total of 16 skeins of yarn - 6 of MC, 5 of CC1, 3 of CC2, 2 of CC3. Crochet hook size will also be a factor - I wouldn’t use anything smaller than a size J - the bigger the hook, the larger and softer the finished product. The pattern in the picture shows 16 rows (8 ridges) of MC, 12 rows of CC1, 8 rows of CC2, and 4 rows of CC3. Gratitude Cowl pattern by Merri Purdy. Zig, then Zag pattern by Kimberly Perkins. There are few things I enjoy more than seeing my husband curled up in a blanket I spent hours crocheting. You too can make a family favorite afghan in just a few short weekends with the help of Bernat Blanket yarn and the wavelength afghan. It works up fast and as you can see from the image above, fuzzy. The bulk creates a dense and heavy blanket, perfect for curling up on the couch on a cold winter evening.

When it is finished, this wavelength afghan is large enough for two! Bernat Blanket yarn, although a little tough to work with at first, is excellent for this afghan. The other thing I encountered was an increase in hand and wrist fatigue. Don’t let these little things scare you, Bernat Blanket yarn is excellent for afghans and this pattern is a lot of fun! I love making crochet baskets, especially out of cotton yarn. I prefer using cotton for two reasons: first, it doesn’t pill (or get fuzzy) with wear or repeated use but most importantly because cotton yarn doesn’t have a whole lot of stretch once its worked up. That’s a huge plus for a crochet basket! What are they good for? The cotton crochet basket pattern is quick, easy and extra versatile.

Use them to organize your craft room, fill cubbies in your accent table, make the centerpiece of your dining room table…you name it, a cotton crochet basket is almost always your answer (at least in my humble opinion).
