Welcome to “What the Fuck Week” What the fuck’s going on with humans’ cruel and sadistic treatment of animals these days?

Welcome to “What the Fuck Week”

Has the world of man gone completely mad? If you have the feeling there’s a kind of quickening—an acceleration of human evil—happening lately, you’re not alone. I’ve noticed it for a while now. From Sears carrying “I love wolf hunting” T-shirts to the Wildlife Services round up and gassing Canada geese, so many bizarre, shocking and downright malevolent deeds have come to light in the past few days that I hereby declare this “What the Fuck Week.”

(WTFW will run from now until further notice.) Early last evening the warm autumn air brought out a hatch of flying termites. Much has come to light in recent years about the benefits of bats as managers of mosquitos and other undesirables. But just today in my inbox I received the following petition about an absurd and sadistic reality show that caused me to let out a “What the Fuck?!” Yes, this actually happened, and it is not an isolated incident. Are wolves in Idaho really growing to these huge sizes that have been posted on the internet? This is difficult to answer, as size is relative--huge to one person is typical to another.

Are wolves in Idaho really growing to these huge sizes that have been posted on the internet?

That said, typical male wolves average around 100-110 pounds, whereas females average 80-90 pounds. The truly exceptionally large male wolf can approach 120-130 (sometimes heavier, depending on how much food is in their stomach when weighed). The photos you’re probably referring to on the internet are taken in a very specific manner to exaggerate the size appearance of the animal in question...you'll notice that the camera is always set low to the ground, with the person posing behind it some distance to make the wolf look larger.

If you look at enough photos where hunters are posing with their kill, you'll notice that a large percentage of them are taken this way to exaggerate the size of the animal in question. Howling_Reporter_Fall_2012.pdf. Montana FWP schedules additional wolf trapping classes. Interest in Montana’s first wolf-trapping season this winter has been so great that Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks announced Friday that additional classes were being scheduled in Anaconda, Bozeman, Kalispell and Missoula.

Montana FWP schedules additional wolf trapping classes

The classes, along with a Montana trapping license, are needed to trap the animals. The season will begin Dec. 15 and run until Feb. 28. The season was added this year as another way to help reduce wolf numbers in addition to hunting. FWP has already certified about 830 Montanans in classes that began earlier this month. Another 1,050 more people are registered for upcoming classes and now 420 more trappers will be accommodated with the additional classes.

FWP initially offered 28 certification classes statewide with up to 50 slots each, but because of public interest, officials supplemented those sessions with six more. “We’ve redoubled our efforts to accommodate everyone who expressed an interest,” said Ken McDonald, chief of FWP’s wildlife bureau in Helena. 10 Lessons American Protesters Can Learn from Quebec's Students. While U.S. police continues to aggressively and unconstitutionally dissuade citizens from exercising their First Amendment rights, protests are still an effective method for bringing about change.

10 Lessons American Protesters Can Learn from Quebec's Students

For example, after nine tireless months, Quebec’s student movement has finally declared victory. When the government threatened to raise tuition on college students by 87 percent, they came out in mass to protect affordable education. As author Naomi Klein stated, “This is why radical movements are mercilessly mocked. They can win.” The students’ diligent approach and subsequent success is not something to be overlooked, notes The Guardian. Wyoming Wolf Holocaust Begins Tomorrow!!

October 1st, 2012, a half hour before sunrise, will begin a day of infamy for Wyoming wolves.

Wyoming Wolf Holocaust Begins Tomorrow!!

Not only will they be hunted outside of Yellowstone National Park in a trophy hunt zone (over 2200 wolf hunt tags have been sold), they’ll be treated as vermin in most of the state. The shoot-on-site plan goes into effect tomorrow!! No license needed, wolves can be run over with ATV’s , hung from a tree, trapped, snared, POISONED or anything a wolf killer can come up with. AND they don’t have to report killing a wolf to the state for ten days. Don’t Let The Fox Mountain Female Fall. It was a dark week in Washington state where six wolves from the Wedge Pack were killed in three days including the alpha female.

Don’t Let The Fox Mountain Female Fall

Yesterday, the alpha male was killed by a sharpshooter from a helicopter. It is not known what happened to the pups. The death of the alpha pair and four adult wolves ends the Wedge Wolf Pack in Washington. Washington killed the Wedge Pack because of 17 accused attacks on cows at the nearby Diamond M Ranch. Patricia Randolph's Madravenspeak: We need wildlife ethic to complement land ethic.

“Killing Lobo no longer felt like a victory, but a crime — (the wolf) no longer ‘vermin’ but a creature with dignity, courageous, loyal, and loving … the very embodiment of American vanishing wilderness.” — Ernest Thompson Seton (1894) Watch “The Wolf That Changed America.”

Patricia Randolph's Madravenspeak: We need wildlife ethic to complement land ethic

A living stable world is not a given. Wilderness is vanquished. When Ernest Thompson Seton was transformed by Lobo 120 years ago, wilderness was vanishing, but now it cannot survive the deliberate increasing assault of high-tech killing. Each day that I read the news I am bombarded by stories about how the wildlife populations across the country are under assault by sadistic rural barbarians.

“Conservation” and Sadism, is there a difference anymore?

This past week an entire Washington wolf pack was executed by state killers shooting from helicopters. They were killed because they were alleged to have killed some cattle grazing on PUBLIC land that were owned by an anti-wolf rancher. The we have the ongoing no-quota wolf slaughter in Idaho and Montana, and the upcoming “shoot on sight” kill fest in Wyoming. Finally we will have the “kill them because we can” slaughter in Minnesota and the possible legalized dog fighting in Wisconsin.

Killing of wolf pack criticized by key Washington state lawmaker

KING 5's Gary Chittim reports. By Miguel Llanos, NBC News The chairman of the state Senate committee that oversees Washington's Department of Fish & Wildlife tells NBC News that the killing of a gray wolf pack in recent days was "inexcusable" and that he is demanding answers about why the agency thought it was necessary. "I find it inexcusable that we allowed ourselves to get to a place where killing the entire pack was the necessary decision when other non-lethal options – within the department and with ranchers – were not totally exhausted first," said Sen. Kevin Ranker, chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Marine Waters Committee. The department gave the order to kill the entire pack, estimated to be eight wolves, after the pack became accustomed to attacking cattle instead of relying on wild prey.

In a letter Friday to the department, Ranker demanded to know: Save the Wolves—Abolish Ranching and Hunting Now. One of the most shocking things about the recent obliteration of the Wedge pack by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was that even the allegedly pro-wolf environmental group “Conservation Northwest” supported the slaughter.

Save the Wolves—Abolish Ranching and Hunting Now

Sure, they had their sound bites about hoping that eliminating entire wolf packs every time there are a few cattle depredations would not become standard practice. But by conceding to the lethal removal of the Wedge wolves (via aerial gunning by helicopter, no less), they helped pave the way for future atrocities. Conservation Northwest’s stance is comparable to that of the World Wildlife Fund, who recently declined to go as far as Greenpeace in calling for an outright ban on offshore oil drilling in the rapidly-thawing Arctic—they felt their concessions to the wildlife-destructive industry insured them a seat at the bargaining table.

In the end the board decided the testimony alone may satisfy a Dane County judge who temporarily stripped that type of hunt from the coming wolf season. Stunning Photos: Husband and Wife Live With Idaho Wolfpack for 6 Years. As the old adage goes, “You can never truly understand a person until you walk a mile in her shoes.” For veteran documentarians Jim and Jamie Dutcher, a mile in someone else’s shoes was six years living among a pack of wolves in an effort to better understand the creatures famously villainized in folklore and history.

From 1990 to 1996, husband and wife documentary team Jim and Jamie Dutcher lived without electricity and running water in a tent within a 25-acre enclosure on the outskirts of the Sawtooth Wilderness in Idaho, photographing and filming the Sawtooth Pack, a family of wolves maintained within the 25-acre territory. Wedge Pack Slaughter Hangs Like A Pall Over Washington State. This is a do-over of my previous post in which I got a few facts wrong.

The alpha pair is dead, effectively ending the Wedge Pack. Yes, a few wolves got away, it was estimated there were either 8 or 11 wolves in the pack but killing off the alpha pair will cause those wolves to disband. And what about the pups? Were they killed? Forests, wolves, can manage themselves just fine, thank you. - National wildlife conservation. Is man more capable than nature at managing ecosystems? A lot of rhetoric is passed along with little thought, or on the basis of misleading information. Special-interest groups purposefully skew things in their favor by sprinkling self-serving (yet erroneous) 'facts' across the Internet, and not only do the honestly uninformed buy these arguments, but even those who (should) know better.
