ALTERNATIVE ARTS is a pioneering arts organisation based in Spitalfields, East London. We invest in new artists and new ideas and aim to make the arts highly accessible to the public. We produce an annual programme of diverse arts events including fashion , photography , literature , music , dance , theatre , art exhibitions and festivals . Current projects include:- ALTERNATIVE FASHION WEEK showing new designers every spring, PHOTOMONTH East London international photography festival, WISEWORDS celebrating women writers, artists and performers during Women’s History month, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FAIR and International Women’s Week in Tower Hamlets, COVENT GARDEN MAY FAYRE & PUPPET FESTIVAL with Punch & Judy Professors from all over the country, SPITALFIELDS FOOD FESTIVAL the most exciting culinary destination in the city.
In order to create a small study on work practices in our sector, IETM is looking for examples of innovative practices in the field of human resource management and work organisation in the contemporary performing arts. From 25-10-12 till 28-10-12 - Zagreb, Croatia Following IETM's concentrated 18 month focus on the social and political context of our work, artistic practices and the ideas which fuel them will be the focus of the Zagreb Plenary Meeting. The meeting will open a space for re-thinking the changes that have occurred in the ways we think about performing arts in the past 20 or 30 years and will generate a process of critical self-reflection on the art making . Art Moves Africa (AMA) is an international not for profit organization aiming to facilitate cultural and artistic exchanges within the African continent.
