It is designed to be understood by the layperson, written with approximately the same level of complexity that Berne used for Games People Play. Psychoanalysis before Eric Berne While there were many theories purporting to explain human behavior before Eric Berne, the most frequently cited and known is the work of Sigmund Freud. Freud emerged in the early 20th century with his theories about personality. Freud believed that personality had three components, all of which must work together to produce our complex behaviors. But perhaps Freud’s greatest contribution (and the one that influenced Berne) was the fact that the human personality is multi-faceted. Another scientist whose contributions impacted Dr. Penfield carried out these and similar experiments for many years.

The human brain acts in many ways like a camcorder, vividly recording events. Transactions Defined. The Secret to Happiness by David Myers - YES! Magazine. What is the good life?

The old American Dream offers an answer: It’s individually achieved affluence. It’s the indulgences promised by magazine sweepstakes: a 40-foot yacht, a deluxe motor home, a personal housekeeper. (“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness isn’t spending it right,” proclaims a Lexus ad.)

Cheaters Use Cognitive Tricks to Rationalize Infidelity. Editor's note: The following essay is reprinted with permission from The Conversation, an online publication covering the latest research.

Cheaters Use Cognitive Tricks to Rationalize Infidelity

Most people believe that they are moral and good. They also believe cheating on a partner is wrong. So how do cheaters live with themselves after their infidelity? Understanding how they reconcile their indiscretions with their beliefs about themselves can help us figure out why “good people” cheat. Dissonance theory predicts that when individuals’ thoughts and behaviors are inconsistent, something has to give. Similarly, cheaters might minimize the significance of their infidelity as a way to cope with knowing they did something wrong.

The experiment To test this idea, the researchers randomly assigned people to be either “faithful” or “unfaithful” in four different lab experiments. The results showed that participants who were made to feel unfaithful had more negative emotions than those in the “faithful” condition. Les RPS - Pleine Vie et Santé.
