Case della Vetra. Almeno un paio di veglioni di capodanno a Milano, entrambi abbastanza inconsueti, li possiamo incontrare al centro di alcuni film di Ermanno Olmi: Il Posto, straordinario lungo del 1961 e La cotta, mediometraggio dalle velleità documentaristiche uscito nel 1967.
In entrambi i film il giovane protagonista dà appuntamento alla ragazza di cui è innamorato per la grande serata del 31, in entrambi i casi incontrerà la disillusione e conoscerà realtà impreviste, inaspettate, inizialmente tristi e poi, a loro modo, diversamente rivelatrici. Si tratta di sequenze dense del romanticismo della vecchia Milano, costruite intorno alla figura del ragazzo innamorato e ancora illuso ma già immerso, senza esserne in alcun modo consapevole, nella realtà della maturità che è feroce e a suo modo violenta.
