Unleashing Creativity with App Smashing with Greg Kulowiec - from Kate Wilson. Hi everyone! My name is Kate Wilson and I am the newest member of the EdTechTeacher team as the Web Coordinator. This is my first attempt at Live Blogging so bear with me but I have gotten some great tips from Beth Holland and Jennifer Carey. I have also only heard great things about Greg Kulowiec so I am excited to start off the EdTechTeacher iPad Summit in San Diego in his session “Unleashing Creativity with App Smashing.”

Greg opens his talk with “I don’t like to focus on the Apps themselves but the concept of Unleashing Creativity.” He uses a great analogy to compare apps with the jet engine. What is app smashing? Hayley’s goal is to find ways to incorporate technology into the curriculum that will motivate and encourage her students to meet learning objectives. My sister introduced me to Book Creator when her 5th grade students were using the app to make similar books to what my students had created. Her students are 1:1 with their iPads, so with our campus only having three iPad carts we had to get a little more creative with management! My students had been writing narrative and expository pieces all year. This time was going to be different and we all were excited to integrate technology into the mix.
