Over 100 ideas for using Twitter in the Classroom

It’s been almost 8 months since I published the post, “6 Examples of Using Twitter in the Classroom”, about uses of the popular micro-blogging tool in the instructional setting. This post generated a lot of traffic, and continues to attract hundreds of viewers every week. Since that brief posting, I’ve come across a lot of articles containing examples and suggestions for using Twitter in instructional applications. I’ve combed through many of these and tried to boil down the redundancies to create a rich set of idea-laden resources.

While there’s still going to be some overlap in the concepts presented in these articles, they clearly meet the goal of providing a thorough set of ideas and examples for leveraging Twitter in the educational process. Here are the original “6 Examples” from last June’s post: About Kelly Walsh Print This Post. Free Technology for Teachers. 30 Posts About Free Education Technology Tools & Resources. 30 Posts About Free Education Technology Tools & Resources

Here’s A Bunch. I’ve been meaning to put together this list of the many free apps that I’ve blogged about, and make it available as a tabbed section on the site. I’ve got the list mostly together now and realized it would make for a nice mid-week post. All of the articles below reference free technologies and/or resources. The posts are simply listed in alphabetical order (I haven’t quite decided how best to organize them otherwise).

Of course, the king of free tech for educators is blogger Richard Byrne and his “Free Tech For Teachers” site. About Kelly Walsh Print This Post. The 5 Keys to Educational Technology. Ed Tech | Viewpoint The 5 Keys to Educational Technology What is educational technology? What are its purposes and goals, and how can it best be implemented? Hap Aziz, director of the School of Technology and Design at Rasmussen College, explores what he terms the "five key components" to approaching educational technology.

By Hap Aziz09/16/10 Educational technology is the considered implementation of appropriate tools, techniques, or processes that facilitate the application of senses, memory, and cognition to enhance teaching practices and improve learning outcomes. Educational technology has a multi-faceted nature comprising a cyclical process, an arsenal of tools (both physical and conceptual), and a multiple-node relationship between learners and facilitators of instruction, as well as between learners themselves. There are five key components of my own definition of educational technology that are meant to tie the multiple facets of the concept together. 1.
