A Square Coke is a Greener Coke | Designerscouch #thecritiquenetwork. One Glass for Every Drink by Sven MILCENT & Utopik Design Lab &... One Perfect Cup The Utopik Design Lab have done it! They’ve taken our entire collected evolution of cup-making and holding of drink history and combined it into one cup. One cup to hold them all. This is “One Glass for Every Drink” and it’s made to work for everyone. It of course tends to the four main glass-specific types of drink: water, cognac, wine, and champagne.

It uses the same head and a different base for each of these. Sounds lovely doesn’t it? This isn’t the first interchangeable base cup we’ve had here on Yanko, and it wont be the last. And while we’re at it, I’ve got to say that my favorite drink glass in the world must be the snifter – looked after here closely by that cognac glass on it’s side. Designer: Utopik Design Lab. Mental_floss Blog & 10 Notable Staircases. Staircases can be so much more than just a means of getting to the next floor. A staircase can be a work of art, a conversation piece, a place to meditate, or a historical marker. Floating on a Wall This floating staircase above by designer Jordi Vayreda looks dangerous, but the steps are made of steel welded to a thick beam inside the wall.

The top of the wall can be used as a handrail for the upper half of the staircase. See more pictures and an explanation here . Hanging Spirals This design makes sweeping under the stairs easy! Bookshelf Stairs Levitate Architects of London designed this bookshelf staircase to combine storage space with access to a loft bedroom. Staircase Drawers Another way to use stairs for extra storage is to put drawers in the risers. Alternating Stairs Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Ståhlbom of TAF designed this unusual staircase for a private residence in Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2020 We Can Wear Sony Computers On Our Wrist Our present need for internet connectivity is so profound that secondary devices like the Nextep Computer are bound to happen. Developed to be worn as a bracelet, this computer concept is constructed out of a flexible OLED touchscreen.

Earmarked for the year 2020, features like a holographic projector (for screen), pull-out extra keyboard panels and social networking compatibility, make the concept plausible. Ten years from now is not too far away, so how many of you think we’d be buying such gadgets? Designer: Hiromi Kiriki. Patchwork Orange: Art of Fixing Buildings with LEGO Blocks | Designs &I... A missing brick here and chipped stone there show the normal marks of wear and tear on the structures and streets of a city, but filling them in with multi-colored LEGO bricks makes them stand out in sharp relief with their surroundings – especially in a place like Berlin.

Titled ‘Dispatchwork’ (a linguistic play on ‘dispatching’ and ‘patching’ the holes), this is part urban art installation, part historical highlighting (since many of the gaps date back to World War II) and part method of calling attention to buildings that could use some help. Jan Vormann has been toying with LEGO pieces for a long time in various artistic capacities – as well as infilling structural holes with mirrors and other attention-getting materials. It may look haphazard at first, but there is an art to the process: identifying gaps is naturally subjective, and filling them in is both a creative and crafty act that can involve turning corners and working with existing structural details. Maze Of Time Watch by Andy Kurovets & Yanko Design. Revenge Of The G-Spot Mouse Its International Women’s Day and its befitting that I confuse you guys with Andy Kurovets’ Maze Of Time.

There is a connection between the two… you had fun at the expense of the female anatomy and now it’s time to pay for those silly smirks! The Maze Of Time watch uses colors in a kaleidoscopic way to represent the time. So when you see a chaotic yellow line below, it’s actually the number “1”. Blue is the number “2”, red color stands for “3”, and “4” corresponds to the green etc. Save-food-from-the-refrigerator from designaddict.com. Posted on November 26 by DesignAddict. Jihyun Ryou, Design Academy Eindhoven graduate, did his Master Thesis about food preservation. By accumulating traditional oral knowledge, he looked at a feasible way to bring the knowledge into everyday life. "Through the research about the current situation of food preservation, I’ve learned that we hand over the responsibility of taking care of food to the technology, refrigerator. We don’t observe the food any more and don’t understand how to treat it.

Therefore my design looks at re-introducing and re-evaluating traditional oral knowledge of food, which is closer to nature. Furthermore, it aims to bring back the connection between different level of living beings, us as human beings and food ingredients as other living beings. " Verticality of Root Vegetables -carrot, raddish, leek...etc. Dryness of Spices Rice absorbs the humidity easily. Humidity of Fruit Vegetables -zucchini, aubergine, pepper...etc.

Alarming Ring Ring is a vibrating alarm designed for people who hate the loud blaring sounds of a typical alarm. The charging cradle is where you set what time you want each ring to go off. The ring fits over the tip of your finger and when that opportune time arrives, it vibrates. Putting the ring back on the dock shuts off the alarm. The benefits are two-fold. It’s perfect for couples whom wake up at different hours. Designer: Meng Fandi. 50 Fantastically Clever Logos. I know everybody and their brother does logo roundups so you’re probably sick of them, but I don’t believe I’ve ever done one and there is a particularly impressive brand of logo design that I wanted to point out.

Today we’ll look at 50 logos that are the result of going beyond the typical thought process and injecting a little wit and hidden symbolism into the design process. What Makes a Logo Clever? To explain what I mean by “clever” logo design, let’s take a look at a typical logo, (i.e. one that isn’t clever). The logo above is a nice piece of work. The colors are perfect, the lettering is masculine, the overall feel is athletic and the glossy effect works well. It’s everything that it needs to be. However, my favorite type of logo design is that which takes the assignment one step further.

These types of logos make you smile at the brilliance of both the idea and the execution and have several layers of meaning that can hit you in waves. Visual Double Entendres Lion Bird Chad 2010 Mr. Resource Furniture - New Space Saving Furniture.
