I really, really, dig frugal crafts using found items from my recycling bin. Creative simplicity is just a very cool concept for me. In that vein, last week we talked about creating gift bags from recycled newspapers, and this week I am talking about making flower pins from old magazines. You can use these flowers for a variety of different uses. They make great party favors or table seating pieces, just stick them inside an old wine cork. Alternatively, you could use them as push pins in your bulletin board, or even go old fashioned and wear them on your lapel.

To make these really cool flowers, I used a few things that I had around the house already including: 1) To start, I searched through my old magazine collection in search of colorful magazine pages. 2) After I collected 3-4 magazine pages, I started working on the petals. 3) Once I had created a whole bunch of petals, the next step was to crinkle them up into a little ball and unfold them. If you're not one, you can use any other shape, or initials, or cut out a word! What you need: 2 sheets of reading book paper scissors an old clean glass bottle glue rope or ribbon depending on the size of the neck of the bottle... about 50cm's Take the page and measure on the bottle what the size of the paper should be. The circumference of the bottle will be wider on the outside than the inside, but measure it to get an idea.

You will have to stick the sheets together, but to start off first stick the one side together and make sure that it is cut straight. Now measure approximately where you want to cut the hearts or shapes. Before you put the paper in the bottle, glue the one end of the paper, put it in the bottle and spread the paper inside the bottle.
