Backup types

Backup4all is one of the pioneer backup applications that implemented all four fundamental backup types. It is able to keep track of the files added/modified/deleted in a unique way as Backup4all stores a summary snapshot of the file information into a backup catalog file (.bkc). Each time a backup job is run the catalog file is updated. For every file backed up, the snapshot contains the file name, size and attributes as well as the date and time of creation, modification and access. This method of keeping track of files is the most accurate one. Sign Up. About Jonathan Strickland - HowStuffWorks. Jonathan Strickland has always loved technology.

About Jonathan Strickland - HowStuffWorks

As a kid, Jonathan spent countless hours playing games like River Raid and Pitfall on his Atari 2600. He grew up during the early years of the personal computer era and cut his teeth on an Apple IIe and the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A computers. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Georgia. HowStuffWorks "How Cloud Computing Works" Let's say you're an executive at a large corporation.

HowStuffWorks "How Cloud Computing Works"

Your particular responsibilities include making sure that all of your employees have the right hardware and software they need to do their jobs. Buying computers for everyone isn't enough -- you also have to purchase software or software licenses to give employees the tools they require. Whenever you have a new hire, you have to buy more software or make sure your current software license allows another user. It's so stressful that you find it difficult to go to sleep on your huge pile of money every night. Soon, there may be an alternative for executives like you. In a cloud computing system, there's a significant workload shift. There's a good chance you've already used some form of cloud computing. Remote Replication. How to Determine the Minimum Staging Area DFSR Needs for a Replicated Folder - Ask the Directory Services Team

This is a quick reference guide on how to calculate the minimum staging area needed for DFSR to function properly. Values lower than these may cause replication to go slowly or stop altogether. Keep in mind these are minimums only. When considering staging area size, remember this: the bigger the staging area the better, up to the size of the Replicated Folder. See the section “How to determine if you have a staging area problem” and the blog posts linked at the end of this article for more details on why it is important to have a properly sized staging area. We are excited to announce the ability to allow customers to achieve higher read availability for their data. This preview feature called “Read Access - Geo Redundant Storage (RA-GRS)” allows you to read an eventually consistent copy of your geo-replicated data from the storage account’s secondary region in case of any unavailability to the storage account’s primary region. Before we dive into the details of this new ability, we will briefly summarize the available redundancy options in Windows Azure Storage.

3 Key Differences Between Backup and Archive. It is commonplace to hear the terms backup and archive mentioned together which is not surprising since both technologies support primary data storage.

3 Key Differences Between Backup and Archive

However, the commonalities end there. I often encounter users who imply that archive is analogous to backup. Simply put, backup and archive are not the same. In this post I will look at key differences between the two technologies. Business continuity planning wallpaper. What is Business Continuity? Introduction to Object-based and Unified Storage. NAS. At Storage Networking World last week, a number of vendors, including Sanbolic, Agami Systems, Intel, Robobak and Spectra Logic unveiled bunches of products ranging from clustered file systems, to easy-to-deploy IP storage-area networks to some of the first Fibre Channel over Ethernet products.

IP SAN, Fibre Channel over Ethernet are the talk of Storage Networking World

Here are the announcements from Sanbolic, Agami Systems, Intel, Robobak and Spectra Logic: Sanbolic announced that its Melio clustered file system is now available for Windows Server 2008. The Melio file system provides concurrent read/write access from several servers to single volumes of SAN. IP SAN vendor Agami Systems announced an iSCSI storage appliance – the AIS3006i – which provides 6TB of physical capacity and full RAID protection. The AIS3006i has eight Gigabit Ethernet interfaces to the network and can accommodate as many as 1,024 connections to host computers.

HP Simplifies Datacenter Deployments With New Network Virtualization Solution. DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, Oct 14, 2014 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- HP HPQ, +0.06% today announced at SDN and OpenFlow World Congress the expansion of its network virtualization portfolio with a new Distributed Cloud Networking (DCN) solution.

HP Simplifies Datacenter Deployments With New Network Virtualization Solution

Legacy networks are constraining the full potential of a unified software-defined data center, limiting IT's ability to simplify complex frameworks and enable seamless multi data center deployments. While IT has the ability to provision, manage and oversee virtualized servers and storage, they are still required to manually configure networking systems. Through SDN and network virtualization, DCN enables network administrators to control the distributed networking environment from one central location, whether the organization incorporates private, public or hybrid data centers.
