Mixtape Alpha | Open Music Labs - Vimperator. Making a mixtape was never this much fun! NOTE: We completely sold out of our first run, and are taking pre-orders for a second run. This will most likely be our last run, so check out our Crowd Supply campaign to get your Mixtape Alpha. Mixtape Alpha is the smallest synthesizer we could make without a prescription. It has a stylophone style input for continuous note generation, and 6 buttons for discrete notes. With 4 voices, 4 effects, and 5 note polyphony there is quite a range of expression. If you want to dig into the guts of this 8-bit synth, check out the wiki page.

Mixtape Alpha was done in collaboration with Jie Qi from the High-Low Tech group at the MIT Media Lab. ArduinoFFT - Open Music Labs Wiki - Vimperator. Arduino FFT Library Notes: For a faster frequency analysis library, check out the FHT! The serial output of the examples is in binary, not ASCII. This means it will not be human readable on the serial port. About the Arduino FFT Library The Arduino FFT library is a fast implementation of a standard FFT algorithm which operates on only real data. Speed characteristics * Note: the lin8 values are approximate, as they vary a small amount due to SCALE factor. Memory characteristics S = SRAM, F = Flash How to Use the FFT Library Files Libraries: Arduino1.05 (fixed PROGMEM for new avr-gcc (thanks forum user kirill9617), added serial example) Arduino FFT library (new) Libraries: Arduino1.0 or Arduino-0022 (should work with both) Arduino FFT library (old) Installing Libraries The above files need to be placed in the libraries folder inside of your Arduino sketch directory.

If you are not certain where the libraries folder is located on your computer, try the following: Mac Implementation Details References. Welcome to Impro-Visor - Vimperator. Impro-Visor Screen Shot: Partial List of Features: Lead sheets and solos can be constructed through either point-and-click or using a plain text editor (one is provided, but any editor can be used). Optional automatic note coloration shows whether notes are consonant or dissonant with chords and scales. Chords may also be entered quickly through a "roadmap" editor, which also analyzes chord changes for implied keys and idiomatic progressions ("bricks").

It was created and run by Brian Eno, who also produced the albums (credited as executive producer in one instance). Ten albums were issued in the series. Most have detailed liner notes on their back covers, analyzing the compositions and providing a biography of the composer, in a format typical of classical music albums, and much of the material can be regarded as 20th century classical music. In their original editions, all albums used variations of the same cover art of a collage by John Bonis, covered up by an overprinting of black ink. Brian Eno's album Music for Airports (1978) was intended as the eleventh Obscure album, and has catalogue number OBS-11 written and then scratched out in the matrix area on original UK copies. Only two of these albums were issued in the USA in the 1970s, on Antilles Records, a division of Island: album 3 as AN-7030, and album 5 as AN-7031.

Freecycle: A beat slicer - Vimperator. Freecycle is a beat slicer running on GNU/Linux platform using the QT toolkit, providing amplitude domain and frequency domain beat matching / zero crossing algorithms. It exports sliced audio chunks and generates a MIDI file which can be used to play the sliced loop, or you can jam with it as soon as you’ve made slices using a midi keyboard or sequencer. Freecycle also exports AKAI S5000/S6000/Z4/Z8 .AKP files to be used with your favorite sampler, SoundFont files, and supports slice drag and drop to/from or inside Freecycle. It can process the audio inline using LADSPA effects, as well as apply envelopes to separate slices.

Figure 1: TAPESTREA on 64Studio At that time my attempts to compile it for a 64-bit platform resulted in a mixed outcome. On January 8 of this new year Daniel Schmitt mentioned the following item regarding TAPESTREA on the Linux Audio Users mail list : Although that single line fixed the reponse problem, Daniel advised that it's only a stop-gap solution and that other 64-bit problems were likely to occur. 64-bit Freecycle Figure 2: Freecycle in 64Studio * Solved the bugs on 64bit platforms (thanks to Jonathan Stowe) Outro.

It was inspired by the addiction of the author to (midi) controllers, as well as by his involvement into the modality project. Some photos of initial thoughts can be seen Did you ever found yourself thinking about how to control a sound or visual performance? Did you ask yourself, how it will be possible to get naturally close parameters to be found on comfortable places on your controller?

This booklet has six different page types: controller: these pages are dedicated to specific MIDI HID or OSC controllers.pattern: derived from these controllers, this page type features a geometrical pattern for scribbling conceptual ideas.artwork: based on either the controller or the pattern pages, artworks are free interpretations of visual artists. WARREN BURT - Journal - The Joy of Found Objects: When Everything Clicks.  Berries. - Vimperator. Being involved in algorithmic composing, process oriented composition, and environmental sound composition, as I am, involves a lot of searching for found objects. Often, things don't quite work out, and sometimes, you have to do a lot of work to get something vaguely interesting. For example, I've done pieces using chaos equations that have involved an enormous amount of work before halfway decent things resulted, and then there was a lot of work getting the musical output of those equations to sound appealing.

(Endless work tweaking filters, reverbs, eqs, even pitch sets, etc.) Occasionally, though, sometimes things just fall together and feel “right.” Very little work is then needed to “finish” the process up. This is one of those times. Here are the original photos I took, reduced in resolution for this website. Saturday, I downloaded the photos from my phone to my computer, and treated them in a graphics program to increase the contrast. Now I faced a (very brief) moment of crisis. The introduction of the compact disc into widespread use during the early 1980's marked the start of a new era in the technology of sound reproduction. The ability to capture and store acoustic signals in digital format produced a massive advance in the quality with which sound could be reproduced. At the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton, the latest research has shown that digital technology can also be used to produce a further vast improvement in the quality of sound reproduction systems. The work has concentrated on improving the ability of audio systems to produce "images" of sound sources perceived by the listener. In short, we try to produce the illusion in a listener of being in a "virtual" acoustic environment which is entirely different from that of the space in which he (or she) is actually located.

Sequential integration is favored by the absence of any sharp discontinuities when changes occur in the frequency content, timbre, fundamental frequency, amplitude, or spatial location of a spectrum of sound.
