(SABC) The fight for a basic monthly salary of R12 500 in the mines continues, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said on Sunday. "We are going to fight until the rights of workers are recognised," party leader Julius Malema said. "We are in Parliament, for the first time Parliament will discuss R12 500," Malema told a crowd of about 3000 in Nkaneng informal settlement in Wonderkop near Marikana.

He was there to thank them for voting EFF in the May 7 general election. "We are proud of you, people of Marikana and Wonderkop. He urged mineworkers to respect and obey the guidance of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu). "We can only compromise on the tactics of attaining R12 500," he said. (SABC) A claim by EFF leader Julius Malema that the ANC government is responsible for the so-called massacre in Marikana is disingenuous, the ruling party said on Thursday. African National Congress spokesman Ziki Kodwa, said in a statement that "We believe that he has abused the privilege of Parliament by making a reckless and irresponsible statement on a matter that is under consideration by the Farlam Commission. " "In his eagerness to project the ANC negatively, he wants to mislead the public that the ANC and its government took a decision to massacre 44 people in Marikana, including mineworkers, police, and security guards. " Kodwa accused the Economic Freedom Fighters of trying to undermine the Farlam Commission of inquiry into the August 2012 shooting and prejudge its outcome.

(SABC) Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the Marikana report undermines the values of the Freedom Charter. Malema was addressing hundreds of his party supporters at a Freedom Charter commemoration rally in Potchefstroom in the North West. He says it is shocking that some cabinet ministers as well as Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa were let off the hook by the Marikana Commission of Inquiry. "Ramaphosa issued emails after emails, declaring a labour dispute to be a criminal activity, and now he is free. Meanwhile, lawyers representing the families of 36 mineworkers who were killed in August 2012 will on Sunday visit the bereaved families, to take them bit by bit through the findings of the Marikana Commission report. (REUTERS) Thousands of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters have gathered outside Wonderkop Stadium in Marikana in the North West. They are dressed in red T-shirts bearing the message "Thank You for one-million votes". EFF party president Julius Malema is expected to lead the party's election victory celebrations in Marikana and Freedom Park. The EFF's last electioneering campaign was in Marikana, where the party asked miners to vote for them.

Lot of activities are in the line-up until late in the evening. It will be Malema's first appearance in Marikana since he was sworn in as member of the National Parliament. The celebration comes as miners in three platinum mines in Rustenburg, who are affiliated to worker union Amcu, are still on strike since January, demanding an entry -level wage of R12 500.
