Quote: Risk Based Validation of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) - LabAutopedia. A LabAutopedia invited article Authored by: R.D.McDowall, McDowall Consulting Introduction The purpose of this section is to present the options available for the validation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) within a regulated GMP environment. It is important to note that the content of this paper described good computing practices if applied outside of the pharmaceutical industry.

The only difference for the pharmaceutical industry is the need for Quality Assurance to approve some of the key documents written during the project. First, I will present what is a LIMS and then introduce and discuss briefly the laboratory and organisation environment that a system will operate under. It is assumed that a commercial system will be implemented and validated. Different 4Qs Terminology for Computerised System Validation The following 4Qs terminology and abbreviations are used in this chapter: LIMS Do Not Have On Buttons Project Timescales and Phased Implementation Project Risk.

Time management

Being too nice. Project management. How to Design an Agenda for an Effective Meeting. Executive Summary To prevent holding a meeting in which participants are unprepared, veer off-track, or waste the team’s time, you should create an effective meeting agenda that sets clear expectations for what needs to occur before and during the meeting. Seek input from your team members to ensure the agenda reflects their needs and keeps them engaged. If your entire team is meeting, then the issues discussed should affect everyone present and require the whole team’s effort to solve. Addressing topics that don’t impact everyone at the meeting wastes individuals’ valuable time.

We’ve all been in meetings where participants are unprepared, people veer off-track, and the topics discussed are a waste of the team’s time. Here are some tips for designing an effective agenda for your next meeting, with a sample agenda and template below. Seek input from team members. Select topics that affect the entire team. List agenda topics as questions the team needs to answer.

Posted by Micah in Tech on Aug 10th, 2015 | 0 comments It has been a long long while since I’ve posted anything here.

Life just kind of got in the way. Lame. Frankly, I’ve gotten a bit away from the “fit” part of Here’s what I am excited about: I recently took a position as the Java Developer Evangelist for Stormpath. I am very easily distracted. Recently, I started using a combination of Google Chrome “people” (personas) and killing apps to try to keep distractions away while working in a pomodoro. Close the “Distractions” Google Chrome windowQuit a number of apps that are distracting when I am trying to workYNAB – awesome budgeting software.Sunrise Calendar – awesome calendar app.Omnifocus – essential project and task management.Telegram – great individual and group messaging app.Messages – Apple messaging app that allows me to send SMS messages from the desktop.Hipchat – awesome messaging app for work. During the pomodoro break, I reverse the process. How I try to get things done with Evernote – Epidemiological. “Remember Everything”: How I’ve Used Evernote To Take Reading Notes – Eric J. Ma.

Evernote has been lauded in many corners as a must-have in a scientist’s toolkit. But I’m sure that like me, there are people out there who don’t know where to start in using Evernote as a scientist-in-training. I’ve decided to share a bit of my thoughts on how one can use Evernote as a scientist, but rather than provide a simple listaragraph (list + paragraph) on how Evernote can be used, I will share more deeply on the workflows that I’ve designed using Evernote.

In this post, I’ll share how I use Evernote to take reading notes on the papers I read. It starts with actually reading the paper. But once I get over what I call the motivational hump and actually finish reading the paper, there’s a few things I do with Evernote. Firstly, I create a new note, and title it using the citation. Next up, I start typing down a summary of the paper, along with preliminary thoughts I have about the paper. Aside: I found this strategy to be immensely helpful in remembering the content of the paper. Important Info for Undergrads | The Duffy Lab. Important Lab Information for Duffy Lab Undergraduates General Lab Information: We want everyone in the lab to be excited about their research project and to understand what we do and why we do it. If you’re ever unsure about why something is being done (or why it’s being done in a particular way), PLEASE ASK! Ideally, you should ask right away. But, if you realize later that you are confused, asking later is better than not asking at all.

We have a great lab group, and people are always willing to help each other out and to answer questions.Meghan will give you her cell number. General Lab Policies: Lab notebooks:All lab members must use lab notebooks; these will be provided by the lab, belong to the lab, and must stay in the lab at all times (including after you finish working in the lab).
