Apartment Therapy

When we got a tiny glimpse of Peaches' home last year in a house call , we knew that we needed to see more. Her home has an undeniable sense of happiness and fun. She has a knack for making beautiful objects out of unusual materials, and those who read Peaches' blog have long known the kind of whimsy and charm her many DIY projects possess. Now we get to see how they all fit together to make a wonderfully charming home.

desire to inspire - desiretoinspire.net

http://www.desiretoinspire.net/ We received an email about a new book that has recently been published called 50 US Architects: Residential + Planning. The author, Damir Sinovcic, sent along some info and fab-u-lous photos. This beautifully illustrated, 11" by 11" volume presents a curated collection of exceptional residential and master planning work from leading American designers. Meticulously detailed and site-specific, the featured projects focus on sustainability, technology, and the human spirit. They reflect ideologies and philosophies that are rooted in the modernist doctrine or distilled from vernacular precedents.

Oh Joy!

http://ohjoy.blogs.com/ Here's a sweet and simple place card idea for this week’s Fashioned Florals—perfect in time for an Easter brunch, don’t ya think? I’m also jazzed that this requires nothing but scissors or floral shears to put together {not to mention that I rounded up everything up from my yard} ! Free is always appreciated, especially when Spring's bounty is in high force here in Texas! 1.

http://decor8blog.com/ I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the color blue. In my work studio, I have lots of bright colors set against a white, neutral background because it inspires me to mix in color according to my mood, removing those that may not be particularly rockin’ my world at the moment. Currently, I have lots of yellow, orange, red and pink in my studio but a few days ago a more moody mix of emeralds and indigos started to creep in. Darker tones of blue on the bed paired with brighter ones throughout the room, like light blue walls, make moody blues less so, via: Anthropologie I’m wondering if this is pointing me towards my eventual Autumn palette as I love warmer, richer hues in cooler months. Or perhaps this is a reflection of how I’m feeling lately — introspective, serious, thoughtful… And the weather has been so completely bonkers bouncing between summery sunny days to ones like today when only a blanket of gray covers the sky and the temps have gone from mid 70s to a murky and cool 40s.
When I first moved away from home, one of the first things I tried to make was polenta. It was a complete disaster. My arms were pockmarked with tiny burns thanks to the boiling hot bubbles of cornmeal that seemed to bubble up non-stop. The end result was thick and tasteless and I threw it away. http://poppytalk.blogspot.com/

After my post on the overly glamourous facade of design blogs , a minor storm cooked up in the Swedish design blogosphere. It all started with this post written by Frida at Trendenser, where she totally misinterpreted the whole discussion and made it into something completely different, and then her readers starting making lots of posts telling everyone how they don't want to see dirty dishes on design blogs. As if someone ever suggested that? If you are one of those people who thinks this discussion is about posting ugly stuff, please read this post , and understand that it is all about showing your more human side, not about showing bad photos of your messy home. I added the instagram widget here on my blog, not to make things uglier, but to give you a glimpse of my everyday life, since I never post about that. http://emmas.blogg.se/

I first spotted Australian craft goods shop Blank , popping up up on Pinterest a while ago. I'm already a sucker for packaging goods and craft supplies, so that's an automatic thumbs up in my book. But what's really brilliant about Blank is the way they've set it up so that once you've selected a "blank" craft supply to view, you are given a gallery of images showcasing creative ways to use it. Awesome! http://www.creaturecomfortsblog.com/
i’m so addicted to instagram . what about you? i took this one the other day. “straws. making things better since 1888. yes, I had to look that up but now we all know.” happy friday everyone! have a great weekend, and i’ll see you back here on monday!

design is mine : isn't it lovely?

http://www.designismine.blogspot.com/ I feel like I have been slacking in doing any projects for a long while now. Come fall, when both kids will actually be in school (!!), I think it's going to be time to really start working on my home using some creativity. I adore seeing how well others put things together and add their own clever & artistic touches in their spaces.

Young House Love - One young family + one old house = love.

http://www.younghouselove.com/ A bunch of you have been asking how turning thirty was for me, so I’ll take a break from painting something (yes, there is paint going on a formerly untouched bathroom wall! wahoo!) to admit that Monday was a really nice day.
Barb Blair from Knack Studios . A: Art means to me...Life is art to me. Everything around me speaks to some form of art whether it is a child's finger painting, collage work by a favorite local artist, jewelry, furniture, flowers, street signs, clothing, or food.....inspiration and color is around at all times. R: Reading books, blogs, or magazines...I don't have much time for reading unfortunately....and because I am one of those "once I pick up a book I can't put it down " people ....it can be dangerous! Everything around me could be on fire and I would not know it since I am so engrossed in my reading!

I have the huge, crazy honor to open the TYPOSF conference at 10am, here in San Francisco today. I was told that they are going to livestream some of the talks, and mine is one of them. YAY! Here’s the link where the live stream will be . You can also watch: Khoi Vinh at 2pm, Joshua Davis at 6pm and Mike Monteiro’s talk tomorrow, friday, at 6pm. Remember, this is all on west coast time!

As users of an ever-changing internet, it’s amazing to see large project come together by someone that we’ve been following for years. In this case, I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of a really great new typeface by Dan Cassaro , called Highway . Easily manipulated to create the look of lettering, but tight enough to use as ready-to-go typography, Highway fills the gap of versatility that many will find just perfect for their next project.
