Chelsea Rooney, Dina Del Bucchia and Leah Horlick all write audaciously on subjects that make others nervous. Hear readings from their newest works and join the conversation, facilitated by feminist writer Meghan Murphy. What all three of these women have in common is that they write candidly on subjects that are stigmatized.

Leah Horlick's first collection of poetry, Riot Lung, came out in 2012. She is a Lambda Literary Fellow and very active in the queer literary scene. Her next book of poetry comes out next spring and deals with her experience of intimate partner abuse in a same-sex relationship - a subject that is rarely talked about. Chelsea Rooney's brilliant debut novel, Pedal, explores the subject of longterm effects of sexual abuse and the nature of pedophilia.

Sometimes shocking in its candor, yet charmed with enigmatic characters, Pedal is an exploration around the potholes and pitfalls of identity. The panel will be facilitated by Feminist Current founder, Meghan Murphy. Genealogy Home - Genealogy and Family History - Subject Guides at Vancouver Public Library. The Library holds the distinction of being the first public library in the province of British Columbia. It owes its existence to two events. In 1865, New Westminster was the capital of the mainland colony of British Columbia, recently carved from the forest on the banks of the Fraser River by the Royal Engineers. When the Regiment disbanded, it donated its collection of books brought from England to create a public library for the City. At the same time, Queen Victoria offered a copy of her late husband Prince Albert's speeches "to the public libraries of her more important colonies". Bowing to public pressure, the City Council decided to take action. 1958 to 2013.
