Before I begin this post, I want to thank the 50 or so of you who so kindly and generously gave so much amazing information on London. Wendy and I are both so grateful and now I am craving a trip there myself.

Gare Montparnasse

Paris Montparnasse is one of the six large Paris railway termini , in the XIVe arrondissement . It opened in 1840, and was rebuilt completely in 1969. [ 1 ] A steam train crashed through the station in 1895; there is a well-known photograph of the event, and full scale reproductions outside a museum chain in South America. [ 2 ] It is used by intercity TGV trains to the west and south-west of France including Tours , Bordeaux , Rennes and Nantes , and by suburban and regional services on the Transilien Paris – Montparnasse routes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gare_Montparnasse
Moving to Paris: Part 2 Once we officially had our French visas we put all our plans into motion. We made a packing list of the kinds of things we wanted to bring with us. We researched movers and storage places to keep our things in San Francisco while we were gone. We started to take French lessons from a tutor. We tried to estimate what our monthly costs would be and looked for hidden costs so we wouldn’t be surprised. http://ohhappyday.com/category/paris/

Paris

Apr 4 Some people still don’t know that my awesome big sister is also Design Mom . When I was younger I used to steal her clothes (she aways had the best clothes .) And she was the one who taught me even when I was in middle school to care about design. I remember her telling me “Never buy anything ugly. If you have to buy a trash can, make sure it is the most beautiful trash can you can find.”

Shopping Paris in 8 hours

By Steven Wright I have been inspired by fashion my whole life. Growing up in small town Ontario, every Sunday evening I would encourage my father to give me a 1/2 hour hiatus from the football game he was watching to follow Jeanne Beker and Fashion Television . Jeanne was a heroine to me, she traveled the world , was on the front line at prêt-à-porter and couture fashion shows each season, and got to interview amazing designers at interesting locals. http://canuckswithoutborders.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/finding-karl-jean-paul-and-christian-in-paris/

http://www.heralddeparis.com/29702/29702 By Lily Hodges on April 4, 2009 PARIS (Herald de Paris) - An exciting new store in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement has had everyone buzzing lately. The creation of Marie-France and Bernard Cohen, Merci opened its doors in March and has since satisfied those looking for a fresh place to shop. “We get a mixture of all ages here, people who are very fashionable and cultivé,” said the Marie-France who sat me down for a cup of Earl Grey to talk about the new store.

Some pieces come from current collections or have been designed just for the store. The remarkable concept here is that designers who are offering their goods on sale here are foregoing their profits, so all the brand new items will cost you around 30% less than the normal sale price. In turn Merci will donate to a foundation benefiting impoverished children in Madagascar, one of the poorest regions in the world and a cause close to the heart of Madame Cohen, who has traveled there several times. Her goal is to give young children (especially girls) the chance of an education so that they can one day have a career.

Crap I've Made: How to hem jeans, Part 2

We’ve talked about this before , but I’m going to show you one more little “trick” that turns a good hem job into a great hem job. First a quick run down on basic hemming. Try your pants on and have someone pin the cuffs at the level you want the pants to end up. On this pair it’s 2.5”. Divide that measurement in half (1.25” on this pair) and measure from the edge of the factory hem that distance. Press all the way around.
