We're always very interested to hear from clients who have used our DIY kits in fibre optic lighting projects in and around their homes. Details of a very impressive project were sent to us by A.M. of Cambridgeshire who, in the days before we offered bespoke "Custom" kits, used two of our "Intermediate" lighting kits to create a very attractive garden path lighting effect. That standard Intermediate Star Kit was offered with a 3 metre fibre optic harness, but since this was not long enough for her requirements A. M. specified a customised harness for one of the kits to add an extra 4 metres to the length of the harness.

Upon taking a good look around with them, other suggestions were made to improve the landscape design. Many are shown in the pictures below.

If you have a large landmark that you want to use as a focal point, build the mouth of the creekbed there. Dig a trench along your mark, between two and three feet deep, using the soil you dig out to build up planting mounds on both sides of the creek (Image 1). A rototiller can help to dig out the trench (Image 2).

Included in this lense are some great ideas for landscaping a hill or slope. Trying to figure out what to do with a hill is not always so easy. It takes some planning and you need to first figure out how much you want to spend on the project. For instance building a retaining wall or terraces is not an easy task and is therefore not for everyone. Hiring out the work could be expensive. You may want to consider getting a few estimates to see what the costs are.
