Buy plants online - Online Garden Centre for a wide variety of plants, garden tools, furniture and equipment.

Plants are a bit of an obsession with us (albeit a healthy one). We covet them, admire them and spend every hour of every day helping them grow big and strong. At Crocus we sell pretty much everything you need for the garden, but plants are our thing. When we started the nursery in April 2000, Alan Titchmarsh applauded us for aiming ‘to give the amateur gardener the same choice of plants as the professional’. And that’s what we still do.

Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis ) | Topiary | Plants | PlantAdvice.co.uk

An evergreen shrub that is grown for its lustrous aromatic dark green leaves rather than for the rather insignificant clusters of greenish-yellow flowers it bears in spring. This handsome slow-growing shrub or small tree is perfect for screening and makes a lovely foil for deciduous flowering shrubs. It will thrive in most conditions provided it is sheltered from strong winds and it can also be clipped into a strong shape. The aromatic leaves are valuable fresh or dried for flavouring savoury stocks or sauces. Garden Care: Keep well-watered during the growing season and feed with a slow-release fertiliser such as Osmacote. http://www.plantadvice.co.uk/plants/topiary/laurus-nobilis/862

http://www.tarheelgardening.com/wordpress/ As the evening light wanes, I step out the back door of my suburban home, entering my wildlife habitat. If I was seeking some alone time, I’ve come to the wrong place. Many familiar friends are waiting for me. Butterflies are flying above the heads of a resident box turtle, a few frogs, and a pair of anoles. Dragonflies are avoiding the praying mantis; the yellow garden spider weaves a web to welcome guests, and mosquitoes are arriving for the bat buffet.

Gardenesque planting design | GardenVisit.com, the garden landscape guide

Planting design types The idea of 'gardenesque' planting was first proposed by John Claudius Loudon. His proposal was that exotic plants should be composed in a similar way to natural plant groups. http://www.gardenvisit.com/garden_design/planting_design_guide/gardenesque_planting_design
There is no reason to sit on your back deck and only to look over at your neighbor doing the same, but looking back at you. Plan for privacy. Fences will certainly give instant privacy, but they can leave the space feeling stark. Study your site and evaluate how the space is used.

Don't miss out on fresh herbs (or pay a lot for them at the market) just because you don't have a big yard. Situate this compact herb garden in a sunny spot near the kitchen door for easy snipping. Our planter has rosemary, sage, parsley, thyme, oregano, basil, and chives -- all readily available in nurseries and versatile in the kitchen. Any herbs can be used. If you want to grow mint, plant it on its own in the top pot, since it can overwhelm other herbs. Place largest planter in the location selected for the herb garden.

Gardens are extensions of the home and bridges to the world. They are paintings where plants are the pigments, hardscapes are the oils that bind, the terrain-our canvas. Sky Garden House by Guz Architects, Singapore ~ Each level of the house has a visual or actual access to greenery. This is one of the reasons I love their architecture....it connects to nature.
