Christmas Misc. The Man Who Lives Without Money. Think you couldn’t live without money? Irishman Mark Boyle challenged this notion and here’s how he finds life with no financial income, bank balance, and no spending. “If someone told me seven years ago, in my final year of a business and economics degree, that I’d now be living without money, I’d have probably choked on my microwaved ready meal.”

According to Boyle, the plan back then was to ‘get a good job’, make as much money as possible, and buy the stuff that would show society he was successful. Like most individuals raised in a consumer-driven society, he never second guessed those goals. For a while he had a fantastic job managing a big organic food company and even had a yacht in the harbor. If it hadn’t have been for the chance purchase of a video called Gandhi, he’d still be pursuing the same life. The change in life path came one evening on the yacht while philosophizing with a friend over a glass of Merlot.

The next concern was shelter. Sources: World Observer The Guardian. 10 Weeks to Organizing Your Holiday Celebrations - Organize 365. Join me each Friday as I spend the next 10 weeks organizing your holiday celebrations. I love being over 40. It was a rough 18 months to get to this place, but AHHHHHH what a breath of fresh air. In my 20’s, I thought I KNEW everything. In my 30’s, I thought I could DO everything. Now, in my 40’s, I know I don’t know everything and I know I can’t do everything, but I can know A LOT about what matters to our family and do anything I put my FOCUSED effort into.

I am more deeply versed on a smaller amount of topics. All this to say… I used to get up in arms and devote a ridiculous amount of time and energy into whether you should say, “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas.” I finally decided my saying “Merry Christmas” was not going to convert anyone to a personal relationship with Jesus. I think I represent my beliefs best when I am acting out of the giftings my Creator gave me: training, teaching, analyzing and organizing. Yep! I have tried to do it all and it doesn’t work. So get ready! Putz houses - an album on Flickr.

They are already packed and put away in the freezer for the Christmas Open House. I used to roll them into logs, refrigerate, then slice to bake. Last year, I scooped and then rolled each portion into a ball and rolled it in sanding sugar. I like the results so much that I did it that way this year, as well.

Rolled in sugar on the left, scooped and ready to roll on the right. I chipped white chocolate bars with my handy dandy chocolate chipper and added those to the cookies, too. I doubled the recipe and it made about 100 cookies…not counting the ones we ate… This is a rich, buttery cookie. They freeze well. Recipe: Macadamia Nut Shortbread Cookies ~~Rhonda.
