Sagan, who was tight on to Cancellara's wheel, ultimately proved too strong for the other two and launched himself for the line to claim his first Tour stage. Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky), meanwhile, retained his second place in the overall general classification aftre finishing safeley in the bunch with Cadel Evans (BMC Racing) failing to take any time out of the Briton.
