I’ve been working independently and with TechDis and Nottingham University helping to develop, promote and support Xerte for quite a while now so it seemed appropriate to establish a dedicated Xerte page linking to various resources and examples etc. I started to put some video tutorials together partly to support my f2f training sessions but also for the wider benefit of the Xerte community. The introduction and first episode in the series covers the Tools & Terminology , aimed at teaching staff rather than developers and introducing the various tools and terminology.

JISCMail - XERTEFORTEACHERS List at JISCMAIL.AC.UK

A list initiated by JISC TechDis to facilitate and support a national community of teachers making use of Xerte Online Toolkits. This list aims to complement the existing technical list run by the University of Nottingham.

Xerte - A site for quickly sharing Xerte stuff

http://xerte.posterous.com/ These are just a few of the tools you might find useful as a compliment to Xerte Online Toolkits. There are obviously many other tools and sites that can be used together with XOT in one way or another. If you have your own favourites please email details to xerte@posterous.com MAXOS http://www.rsc-eastern.ac.uk/Technical/Maxos/Pages/default.aspx although this will run from USB it will also run from a hdd if copied to the root of a drive. Even if you have access to tour own organisational XOT installation MAXOS can be useful for continuing to develop when you don’t have connectivity e.g. when travelling about and also for testing importing, exporting and customisation etc Xerte - http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/downloads/setup.exe ideally this should be installed but again will run from USB or shared network drive if you install on a Windows PC first and then copy the Xerte directory to a USB stick.
Xerte is an Open Source content creation tool that allows non-technical staff to quickly and easily build rich, interactive and engaging resources with high levels of accessibility already built in. JISC Techdis has worked closely with the University of Nottingham to help evolve this Open Source product from an HE based development platform to a popular teaching tool used extensively across a number of sectors. The key to Xerte is simplicity and ease of use and to date, the online toolkits have been used by governments and NGOs in Africa, mainstream further and higher education, in-house employer training and adult community learning. In 2010, Xerte scooped first prize at the IMS Global Learning Impact Awards 2010 in California.

Video of the New view/display for Quiz Materials in Frames | Moodle News

Earlier this week we highlighted a project by Frankie kam, a Moodler at SCM.Moodleace.com , who created a new way to display additional quiz information and content in tandem to a Moodle page [ link ]. The project lets students navigate through a quiz without ever losing access to information that the teacher/facilitator has deemed relevant (and available) during the quiz session. Frankie uses a program called Xerte which makes creating elearning content and packages easier. For more about Xerte visit http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/ Check out the full contribution and demo at this Moodle.org thread: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php? http://www.moodlenews.com/2011/video-of-the-new-viewdisplay-for-quiz-materials-in-frames/#comment-74471?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
