Anne Skidmore Photography - Kate and Stefan. 20 Captivating Photos Shot At Exactly The Right. There are some things in life that make me feel dated (notice I didn’t use the word “old” LOL). For example, sending a fax, writing in cursive (with a pen) and talking on any phone with a cord (and twirling it around my fingers) are all things that kids born in 2011 might never have the opportunity to experience.
I remember back in the days when people would say, “I wish I had my camera with me today, I could have taken some great pictures.” Now that practically everyone has a smartphone, we all have our cameras with us everywhere we go. That is evident in these photographs taken at exactly the right moment. The photography we see these days is phenomenal. People everywhere are taking fabulous shots and sharing them with the world on social media sites.
There is one aspect of photography though that is still very intriguing to me because it is somewhat rare. San_Francisco_in_ruin_edit2.jpg (7000×2748) YVES BORGWARDT. Perhaps ironically, Chris Kotsiopoulos’ photograph of Earth in a single day is nothing short of unworldly. The Greek astronomer and photographer began with a question: Is it possible to capture the life of planet Earth in 24 hours? With his ambition in one hand and a Canon 550D in the other, Kosiopoulos planted himself atop the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion for 30 straight hours to find out. On December 20, 2010, just hours before sunrise, Kotsiopoulos set his camera on a tripod facing east, capturing the position of the sun every 15 minutes using an intervalometer and astrosolar filter. At the sun’s peak, Kotsiopoulos removed the filter, capturing the sun in an unwavering resplendence, clearly identifiable in the photo.
As the sun began to set, Kotsiopoulos shifted the camera to face west and northwest, catching the second half of the day with the sun in view. Kotsiopoulos pulled together 500 star trails, 35 shots of the Sun and 25 landscape pictures. @packyouralex. Randy Scott Slavin's 'Alternate Perspectives' Photo Series Shows A 360 Degree World. Randy Scott Slavin's photography is surrealism based in reality. His work portrays land and cityscapes in a 360 degree view, a perspective closer to that of the human eye than a 2D photograph, he says. "The camera is a great instrument but it is limited in what we see," Slavin said. "The eye is more dynamic and more encompassing, so it takes a lot more post production to make it look like it does in person. " Slavin's "Alternate Perspectives" is a series of photographs of a single location or landmark pieced together to create a 360 degree perspective in a flat image.
The results are whimsical, and occasionally eerie, scenes that reflect the portion and scale of Slavin's surroundings when he took the photo. "I want to make sure my intentions for this project is to go out and explore the world and take a look at the monuments and reimagine them in a different way," he said. "I love surrealist art that has a grounding in reality," he said. Launch Slideshow. Nature's Best 2006: Image Gallery: American Alligator. National Geographic Photo Contest 2011 - In Focus.
