Izumi Curtis. Izumi Curtis (イズミ・カーティス, Izumi Kātisu), (née Harnet) is a master alchemist and skilled martial artist living in the southern Amestrian town of Dublith where she runs a butcher shop with her husband Sig. Though she doesn't usually take on students, Izumi accepted Edward and Alphonse Elric's plea to take them on as her apprentices and instructed them in alchemical theory and martial arts for six months. In that time, she grew to love them as deeply as she would her own children, becoming a long-term source of guidance and support for the Elrics' future endeavors. Appearance Edit Izumi is a rather attractive and deceptively young-looking woman despite being middle-aged. She is fairly tall and fair-skinned with dark-eyed, a slender frame with a curvaceous yet well-toned figure, and upperback-length black hair worn in box braids. Personality Abilities Izumi is among the strongest characters in the series.

Manga and 2009 Anime History Edit Meeting the Master The Human Philosopher's Stone 2003 Anime. List of Fullmetal Alchemist characters. Amestris. Amestris is a Unitary State, with a population of about 50 million and a Parliamentary Republic type of Government. The Head of State is the Commander-in-Chief of the Military who holds the title of "Führer" (大総統, Daisōtō in Japanese, a form of "Generalissimo") and who concentrates the ranks of Head of State and Head of Government. It seems the country was composed by several former nations, quite diverse in culture and religion, but incorporated by the expanding state of Amestris.

The administrative regions of the country seem to reflect those differences. The country has five administrative divisions: South Area, West Area, North Area, East Area and Central Area. The East Area is the most diverse, sheltering a nation of a different ethnicity called Ishvalan. Government Edit Amestris is a Unitary State with a Parliamentary Republic type of government. The regional offices of the government are directly subordinated to the Central Command and have little freedom of action. History Geography. Wrath. Personality Despite the violent nature of the sin he embodies, Wrath is actually one of the calmer of the Homunculi and rarely bickers with them, but when he is angered he unleashes his sin's full power. He has a slightly strange sense of humor and has a habit of doing rather odd things for someone of his status, such as joking with his subordinates, dressing up as a tourist while visiting Dublith to meet Izumi Curtis, giving melon bread as a gift to Edward Elric, ditching work to meet the brothers in the hospital, and jumping out of a window to get away from his attendants.

He is also more lenient towards humans than his siblings, likely due to having lived among them for a long time. Powers and Abilities Being a human-based Homunculus, Wrath has the ability to physically age, which enabled him to pass off as an average human, allowing him to assimilate within the general population without suspicion. Role in the Story History Wrath is the secret identity of King Bradley. Final Battle. Pride. Personality Edit When first introduced under the guise of Selim Bradley, Pride takes on the mannerisms of a normal young boy.

He displays a positive and innocent attitude much like an ordinary child. He seems quite prone to hero worship. He displays great admiration and respect for his "father", King Bradley, at one point writing a glowing report about him for a school project. He also seems fanatically interested in the Elric Brothers, reacting with giddy excitement upon meeting them. All of this vanishes, however, when he reverts to his Pride persona. Despite all of these negative traits, it is implied that Pride, like Wrath, enjoyed the false family life he had with Bradley and his wife. After Pride begins to age again as a normal human, he returns to his former life as Selim Bradley. Manga and 2009 anime In the manga, Pride is the first Homunculus that Father created. At first, Pride remains hidden, and only his voice is heard when he talks to (or rather scolds) other Homunculi.

Trivia. Sloth. Part in the Story Edit In the original story, Sloth is not introduced until midway through the series, where he is revealed to be a muscular, but dimwitted giant standing almost twice the height of a normal man. Sloth's Ouroboros tattoo is located on his right shoulder blade and he is listed in Perfect Guide Book 2 to be the fifth Homunculus created by Father. Sloth is tasked with digging a gigantic transmutation circle beneath Amestris to be used in turning the country into a Philosopher's Stone. Though he is briefly impeded in this job when he runs into the Elric brothers at Briggs Fortress, he is allowed to continue his work, finishing the circle in chapter seventy-eight. Just as his name implies, Sloth is always wanting to rest and finish his job so he can stop working, repeatedly stating that everything he is forced to do, and even living itself, is always "bothersome".

Powers and Abilities Sloth is also extremely clumsy and easily fooled. Trivia In the 2003 Anime. Greed. Greed (グリード, Gurīdo) is a Homunculus, called the "Ultimate Shield" because he can rearrange the carbon in his body to make his skin as hard as diamond, thus making himself almost impossible to injure by normal means. As his name implies, he is a very avaricious character, who likes living in luxury, surrounded by powerful minions and beautiful women.

He also has a habit of flipping people off in the manga. Despite his generally greedy nature, he is shown to care for his subordinates, as detailed below. Manga Greed is the third Homunculus created by Father (according to the Perfect Guide Book 2) and claims to be around two centuries old. After learning of the Elric brothers' battle with Scar, he becomes intrigued with the notion that the youngest brother, Alphonse, is an independent soul bound into a suit of armor. Shortly after, Edward rushes into the Devil's Nest to rescue his brother and confront Greed. Mond-like form) and nullifies it with his own alchemy. The Return of Greed Trivia. Envy. Envy (エンヴィー Enbī) is a Homunculus who has the ability of shape-shifting. This unique ability can be used to assume the form of any existing person (or original personas that Envy itself creates) and can even modify its own voice to directly copy others'.

Envy is most comfortable in the "adorable" and "beautiful" form of an androgynous teenager. It usually serves as a spy, but its abilities are also extremely useful for assassinations, as demonstrated by the murder of Maes Hughes. Envy's most frequently used assassination technique is to imitate either one of its victim's loved ones or close friends, and use their hesitation as a chance to kill them.

Appearance Envy usually appears as a pale-skinned androgynous youth with a lean muscular build and bulging biceps. Although already formidable in its human form, Envy can assume a much larger, lizard-like shape with a long black mane and six pupils on its left eye. Personality Powers and Abilities Manga & 2009 Anime Envy later released Solf J. Gluttony. Gluttony (グラト二ー, Guratonī) was the second Homunculus to appear in the series, typically being in the company of Lust. Personality Edit Gluttony, although under normal circumstances is quite docile, is easily prone to bouts of frenzy in which he uncontrollably tries to eat whatever crosses his path, usually someone he has been given permission to eat; which as a result, in both the manga and anime, causes him to frequently ask Lust (or any other Homunculi that he is partnered with) if he can eat them beforehand.

He even asks this question to the people he is fighting at that moment. He particularly likes eating people and even mentions to Wrath that he prefers eating girls (as he finds them soft and tasty). Powers and Abilities True to his name, Gluttony is incredibly voracious, and seemingly unable to ever satisfy his hunger. In the manga, Gluttony is actually a false Gate of Truth which he can activate at will. In the Manga & 2009 anime In the 2003 anime Trivia. Lust. Lust (ラスト, Rasuto) was a Homunculus and one of the first antagonists in the Fullmetal Alchemist series. Lust is the first Homunculus to appear in the series and plays a significant part in the plots of both the manga and 2003 anime series, usually partnered with Gluttony to whom she appears to have a particular, almost motherly closeness.

Her Ouroboros mark is located on her sternum, just above her breasts. Powers and Abilities Edit Though named for the vice of lust, Lust does not appear to be lascivious herself, but rather an object of lust for others. Due to her enticing looks and high intelligence, Lust easily and effectively plays the role of manipulator within the Homunculus ranks, moving covertly around the country to lure weak-minded people (usually alchemists) into the clutches of "Father" to be used and disposed of when no longer needed. In the manga and 2009 anime 2003 anime Trivia. Homunculus. This article is about the artificial humans named for the seven sins or created by the military. For the manga and 2009 anime storyline antagonist who sometimes goes by this name, see Father.

Homunculus (Latin for "Little Human") refers to the mythological concept of an artificially created human, presumably brought into existence by certain means of alchemy. Though a common concept, well known and understood by alchemists in Amestris, the idea of homunculus is regarded as no more than a farce or faraway fantasy as no individual or group of alchemists has come anywhere close to successfully creating such a being in officially recorded history. Even so, alchemists have been forbidden by the Amestrian government to attempt or research the transmutation of humans and State Alchemists have such a restriction as part of their creed. However, off the official record, not only one, but several of these creatures have been created in arcane, sinister secrecy.

Manga and 2009 anime Edit Edit Creation. Father. Personality Edit Father's original personality when he was known as the Dwarf in the Flask is more human-like than when compared to his later self. His later self is stated by Hohenheim to be much more stoic and lifeless, the reason being that he'd purged himself of the humanly vices in an attempt to become the ultimate being. He is dark, foreboding, and has great confidence in all of his plans. During his first meeting with Hohenheim's son Edward Elric, his brother Alphonse and their friend Ling Yao, Father shows a somewhat comical, lighter side to his personality, similar to that of Hohenheim, but almost immediately after switches back to his very serious demeanor.

Father is also cold, pitiless and believes that everyone around him are nothing but tools to be used as part of his plans. Despite his normally calm, brooding, calculating personality, he is shown to be extremely excited when his plans finally come together, showing a wicked, gleefully evil side to his personality.
