Vand. Iate - Ordbog over fagterminologi, EU. Climate Change. Papers of the Board of Longitude. The sixty-eight volumes of the papers of the Board of Longitude document in rich detail many of this public institution’s remarkably wide-ranging activities over more than a century (1714-1828).

Papers of the Board of Longitude

The 1714 Longitude Act nominated twenty-two Commissioners, including parliamentarians, administrators, scholars and naval officers. Their official tasks were to judge proposals for determining longitude at sea, fund experiments to try what seemed viable projects, and reward schemes judged successful according to the Act’s stringent criteria. The current disposition of these archives is mainly due to the nineteenth century astronomer George Airy, a member of the Board when it was abolished in 1828. Its papers were then divided up between the Admiralty and the Royal Society. In 1840 Airy arranged for all the papers to be brought to Greenwich Observatory, and by 1858 he’d ordered them into bound volumes with subject headings that reflect his own classification of the material.

Global Livestock Environmental Assessment Model (GLEAM)

The model can operate at (sub) national, regional and global scale. GLEAM differentiates key stages along livestock supply chains such as feed production, processing and transport; herd dynamics, animal feeding and manure management; and animal products processing and transport. The model captures the specific impacts of each stage, offering a comprehensive and disaggregated picture of livestock production and its use of natural resources.

GLEAM is designed to analyze multiple environmental dimensions, such as feed use, greenhouse gas emissions, land use and land degradation, nutrient and water use and interaction with biodiversity. The main features of the current version of GLEAM are: Outputs Spatial resolution GLEAM is intended to assess the global livestock sector. Turen Går Til De Varme Lande - Verdens klima, hvad sker der? There once was a time when big cities thrilled and amazed people. "It is the metropolis of the universe, the garden of the world," Ibn Khaldun, the Arab historian, wrote of Cairo in 1382. English traveler Thomas Coryat described Renaissance Venice as a "beautiful queene. " French artist Marcel Duchamp, in 1915, called New York City "a complete work of art. " Since their appearance about 3000 B.C., cities have always been the natural center of everything that mattered: the temple, the court, the market, the university. Of course, your own city may not immediately inspire words like "peerless" or "paradise. " However urban life strikes you, cities worldwide have been growing ever more rapidly. This is actually good news in some ways. Those cities will be bigger than ever. None of this is inevitable. Get the whole story in the pages of National Geographic magazine.
